Good but poor internet

Tried to deny the obvious bed bugs in the room. There was dead bugs on sheets, under sheets, on walls… Never in my life have a had someone tell me not to report bugs, HOWEVER, at this monstrosity they wanted me not to report it because he said the bugs weren’t moving… This place is absolutely disgusting, do not go here.

The staff were pleasant and helpful especially Jenn. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. No noise. This place is just approx. 20 minutes from most hiking destinations in Big South Fork Recreation Area and the Daniel Boone National Forest, both in TN. It suited our needs very well and the price was right.

The Google reviews of the Royal Inn pretty accurately capture the experience. It's a very basic motel with clean rooms and a worn out exterior. The parking lots is badly torn up and there is an abandoned ( filled in) pool. A mismatched assortment of chairs sit outside of the rooms. The rooms have been refurbished in the past few years. But the bathrooms still looks mostly original with colored tile flooring and tub. Even with the reburshiment, our room had water damage from a leak in the ceiling and a damaged bathroom door that would not stay closed. The beds and pillows were pretty comfortable. The blanket was a bit thin for chilly winter nights and an extra blanket would have been nice. There is a language barrier with the manager (owner?). He was friendly but when we had an issue it was hard to communicate and work through it. Overall, you get what you pay for and there are few options in the area. It was clean, and suitable for our brief stay. In the future, I'd probably choose to stay somewhere further from Oneida that's nicer.
