Grand Hotel Adriatic

Beautiful, but very large hotel. Variety of wellness facilities, excellent food, great rooms, but the mattresses are a little bit worn out. Maybe they should consider about replacement of furniture in rooms. Otherwise, the hotel has an excellent and solid location in Opatija.

We spent two ignhts in Grand hotel Adriatic and our overall experience is very good. The hotel is located around 10 minutes from downtown Opatjia, but the walk is really pleasant, with many nice buildings on your way.The hotel room was normal, comfortable, but the garden view was a bit awful, just a parking place.The view from the lobby and the restaurant is wonderful, especially early in the morning or at sunset. The hotel staff was a little unfriendly, not rude but without a smile...The breakfast buffet was great! A wide variety of everything, especially for me who I like sweets for breaksfast, there were pancakes, waffles, muffins,crepes,croissants and many more more!The evening buffet was also very good, with fresh pizzas made in front of us,with less options than in breakfast, but quite sufficient. Since we were travelling with a group with other Greeks, the hotel manager allowded us to use a large room next to the lobby to organize a greek dance night;it was a nice gesture on his behalf. Two tips!If you use the elevators to get to restaurant, don't go to ground floor(0) and climb the stairs. Stop at first floor, turn left and you enter the restaurant. Just before the restaurant there is a gift shop.It has many souvenirs from Croatia and Opatjia, in very reasonable prices and the lady who runs it is by far the best person we met throughout our journey in Croatia.Very friendly, with a smile on her face all the time!Unfortunately I don't remember her name, but congratulations to the hotel manager for putting her in the right place!

the most terrible experience ever. I made reservation 5 days prior my arrival date. Unfortunately, due to terrible accident I had a day after reservation was made, I couldn`t consume the service at the hotel. I simply couldn`t travel. I asked for cancellation policy and politely asked for understanding. I also sent a proof of my accident and medical documentation. I called the hotel multiple times but all I ever got is reception desk and their response was always: " we can not help you". They also gave me the contact of their reservation service but nobody ever answered on my calls. I sent multiple emails, but never ever got any response from anyone. They charged my credit card 100%. If I knew their relationship toward guests is so horrible, I would never ever make direct reservation with them. Funny though... when I called about reservation and making one, they answered all of my calls and emails. After that, nobody wanted to talk to me about cancellation policy. They simply hanged up every time I tried to call their service. I travel a lot and I have never had such experience in my life. I would not recommend anyone to book or stay in this hotel.

Amazing food, it is worth visiting for food alone. Champagne with breakfast, huge selection of food. Very comfy rooms (we stayed in new part; Adriatic II). Wellness is good, amazing view from saunas and relax zone. Very friendly yet professional wellness receptionist Enja.

Unpleasant Stay – Would Not Recommend I recently stayed at this hotel and had a very disappointing experience. 1. The staff were extremely unfriendly and unhelpful, making it feel like they were doing me a favor just by answering the phone or even engaging in conversation. 2. The rooms are *incredibly* small, far below expectations. 3. There was a terrible smell in the room, forcing me to buy an air freshener and sleep with the window open. 4. No complimentary bottled water was provided in the room—only what’s in the minibar, and that comes at an extra cost. 5. The hotel design is dominated by black marble, which, combined with the very low lighting in the halls, makes the atmosphere dark and depressing. It’s far from inviting or comfortable.

This is one of the most popular and oldest hotels in Opatija. It should be one of the best... But what I experienced was terrible. There were bedbugs in the room (it's room 560), I received almost no apology from the hotel staff. When I wrote an email on the recommendation of the reception manager, I waited 7 days for an answer. It's better that they didn't even send it, because it's not an apology, but a mockery of the guests. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone again.
