Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda

Umeda
I booked a King Canopy room as a Hilton Diamond member. The day before check in I was upgraded to a corner suite! One of the best upgrades I’ve received!! The room itself was amazing. Clean, sharp, modern, and spacious. The living room and bedroom areas were stylish and I really enjoyed the stay. I really liked the floor to ceiling windows. From the top floor of the south side of the building I could clearly see Osaka Station, the future Waldorf Astoria Osaka, and the Hilton Osaka in the distance. The hotel itself is located in Grand Green Osaka with dedicated elevators on the ground floor to access the lobby. The hotel has a modern, boutique feeling compared to the rest of the Hilton portfolio in Osaka. There is a bridge to easily access the Grand Front Osaka and Osaka Station is a quick walk across the street. There are many interesting restaurants in the building and surrounding area. As the hotel does not feature an executive lounge, diamond members may enjoy “golden hour” at the hotel bar, Jaja. This consists of 2 complimentary drinks, a very small snack, and half off further drinks. I believe it was 4-6 pm. The hotel breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had! There’s a buffet as well as an included menu item, something I usually only see at the Conrad. As expected of Hilton, both Japanese and Western options were offered. I decided to try the udon which was very good. Staff were friendly, attentive, and were going around the floor offering special dishes to guests. I really enjoyed my stay and I hope that I can stay again someday. It raises the question of this hotel or the Hilton Osaka? The Hilton has a more spacious lobby, an executive lounge with delicious food everyday, and is located right on top of the subway. However the rooms are a bit older and the views are just so-so. The Canopy Umeda has brand-new, clean, modern rooms with great views and a more energetic feel. That said, there is no executive lounge and the train station requires a short walk. Staff I’ve encountered at both were friendly and helpful. It’s a hard question and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either way.
