Grampus Inn Osaka

Slightly older looking hotel that is just a stone’s throw away from Namba, with very competitive price particularly during peak sakura blossom season. I chose this place also for its location: It’s easy to take the Nankai Airport Express from here and reach Kansai Aiport in 35 mins; and the hotel is basically at the heart of Osaka’s nightlife with hundreds of arcades, restaurants and bars open late into the night. Albeit looking slight gloomy, the room here is larger than most hotel rooms in Japan, with enough space to open 1-2 large luggages. The bed is comfy, and they offer room service everyday. The front staff speaks decent English and is quite helpful as well. Another plus point is there’s a decent cafe just at the foot of the hotel, so if you’re thinking of getting a hearty western breakfast, pay this a visit.

Small bathroom and room in general but the location is amazing, located near the Namba station.

It is a very bad experience in my trip. although the hotel is in a good location the attitude of the staff are really rude. When we first check in to the hotel it is a woman serve us. then they give us a room which is in fifth floor. we step inside the room it smell very smelly like somebody have smoke in the room for a very long time but the profile of the hotel already state out that it is a non smoking room. Also the cable of the television exposed to the ground it almost kick us down when we walk around in the room and the light of the room are very dim. There are stains on the bed sheets we get back to the reception and tell the other staff which is a man with a suit. We state out what we see and smell in the room and tell him I want to get my money back and change another hotel unfortunately he don’t accept this solution.then we ask him to change other room then he ask me why by google translates. even like “why”this easy word he still need to use translation. I can’t believe that this is the English level of a hotel staff that near the namba station. what an ugly English! Finally he help us to change the room but we have stand and wait there for almost half and hour but actually I have already see him place the key out and he start packing other things. He give me the key when I start getting annoying and ask him with a loud sound. The last night of my trip was all been disturbed because of this hotel and the staff. What are really bad travel experiences!!!

Without going into too-specific detail, I was forced to contact the hotel a day or two before our booking with a request that was outside the conditions in force when we made the booking. .The proprietor wrote back swiftly and courteously, assuring s that the Grampus would fit in with our special need. He was so nice about it that I was truly glad when the request turned out not to be needed as our difficulty worked itself out. But we breathed more-easily because of his attitude.

Room is small. Hotel facing big main road and can be noisy at night.
