The location is wonderful, with a beautiful view of Lake Biwa stretching from east to west. The guest room, bedroom, washroom, and bath were all clean. There were some stains and spider webs, but considering the price, it was within the acceptable range. The bathtub in the unit bath was a little small. Also, the shower head had deteriorated over time, so it kept spinning around while in use, making it difficult to use.
The breakfast had few variations and was not very tasty. The sweets such as French toast and pudding were delicious. (It may be unavoidable due to a lack of staff, but I think it would be better if the French toast was made on the spot upon order, rather than left on a plate, so that you can eat it fresh.)
Amenities are not provided in the room, but are taken home by yourself. It is a plus point that they are provided in the elevator hall on each floor, not in front of the front desk. However, it was disappointing that the black tea, green tea, and coffee were all powdered, not tea bags or drip packs. The black tea in particular was undrinkable. Drinks like this are important when resting in your room, so I wish they provided something a little higher quality.
It is a bit far from Otsu Station and even Zeze Station, so a shuttle bus or something would be nice. There is a supermarket just a few minutes' walk away, but it gets dark at night and there are hardly any people around, so you don't feel like going out much.
I didn't use the large public bath, so I don't know, but if you can take a bath while watching the sunset on a clear day, it would be the ultimate relaxation.
The staff were friendly and overall I think it is a good, reasonably priced accommodation.
