Otterburn Castle

Lovely Castle Hotel in Otterburn, Northumbria Just had a wonderful stay at The Otterburn Castle Country House Hotel. Lovely grounds and despite it only being 9th Feb the woodlands and grounds were overed in snowdrops indicating Spring is not far away. At this time of year we stayed ahead of season and there were not too many people here. There is a small bar area and a lovely old world lounge where we sat before and after our evening meal with a few glasses of wine in front of a log fire. The hotel only has about 17 rooms so you are never going to feel overwhelmed, our room was a select room with four poster bed. Lovely and clean. We just stayed the one Saturday night but we had heard that the food was very good and it did not disappoint. Both our starters and main courses were excellent. My wife paid a small supplement to have the steak and she insists it is one of the best she has had. I had the Burger and it really was excellent and again one of the best I have had. The chips were of the 3 times cooked really brown type - gorgeous - and I should also mention the onion rings that were real onion and not mush. The main meals really were very good indeed. Breakfast was also fantastic. Really nice Bacon and the Sausages were quality. The Hash Browns were to die for the best I have tasted, really crunchy and the Mushrooms melted in the mouth - a fantastic breakfast. This is a family run hotel and the staff fell over themselves to make our stay memorable. We had a totally fantastic meal and stay.

An old castle in England, what more do you want. The staff were very attentive and very pleasant. Even with a fire alarm in the middle of the night (false alarm) they were pleasant and helpful. The food was amazing both for dinner and for breakfast.
