Popular Oulu 4-star Hotels

I spent three nights here on a business trip recently. The hotel is located on the water front and close to restaurants and shops. There is a nice park on one side and the city view on the other. Rooms were well appointed with a decent desk, good bathroom and comfortable beds. Typical European bedding with a heavy comforter and no top sheet. TV had lots of channels and many were in English with Finnish sub-titles. Internet access was good. In the main lobby there were two restaurants - one primarily for dinner and another for breakfast. There is a full bar, but prices are a little high. On the lower level is a sauna and gym.

Lapland Hotel Oulu has an excellent location only 200 meters from the town hall, 700 meters from the market square and 700 meters from the railway station. So everything is within walking distance, e.g. restaurants, shopping possibilities and main sights. It is also possible to rent bikes from the hotel (8 euros/3 hours, 25 euros/day). We saw Oulu Cathedral and Franzen Park from our window. The area is very silent. Sometimes you may hear the sound of church bells. We hadn't a balcony but most rooms with a balcony seemed to have an indoor balcony with view to the restaurant of the hotel. Our room with Lappish style was very cozy. We had a safety deposit box, a silent small refrigerator, an iron, an ironing board, a big flat screen television and a self adjustable air conditioning system. Air conditioning nozzles were near the floor, under the wardrobe. It was possible to adjust indoor temperature using the touch screen and also turn those nozzles manually to a different position. However, air conditioning wasn't very effective when it was hot outdoors. Breakfast is always good in Lapland Hotels and especially here in Oulu. They had all the usual hotel breakfast foods but also several local specialties, e.g. buckwheat cereals, rosemary crispbread, malt bread with tar, beetroot hummus, dried cranberries, cloudberries, cloudberry jam, blueberry juice, cranberry juice, rhubarb smoothie, lingonberry-seed tosca pie, cinnamon buns, sour milk cake etc. Also alcohol free spruce sparkling wine was available but not every morning. However, I especially loved green smoothie made of apples, spinach and spruce roots. Oula Kitchen & Bar is the restaurant of the hotel and it is an excellent dinner restaurant. Read separate Tripadvisor reviews of it. There are also saunas (a free public sauna in the evening, separate for women and men, and a private sauna for 1-4 people with pre-booking and extra charge) and a free swimming pool (open from morning until evening) in the hotel. The nearby Fressi Gym is available for hotel visitors (5 euros/visit if you aren't a member of Lapland Hotels Club). Service was very kind in the whole hotel. I really recommend Lapland Hotel Oulu for everybody.

Original Sokos Hotel Arina is a classy and lively hotel located in the heart of Oulu at the pedestrian street Rotuaari. The seven storey hotel has 260 cosy rooms including three suites and rooms with a private sauna. Small fitness room for hotel guests free of charge.

Old fashioned hotel in the heart of Oulu and very near of the railway station. Did not startle. Had to wait staff when checked in :(. The room was ok, the bed comfortable and there were enough pillows. Maybe the cleaning woman was too short, because the upper shelf was dusty in the wardrobe. Nice bar. Breakfast ok, but the personnel (youngsters) did not bring the finished porridge soon enough to get any. The egg butter needed more butter, was difficult to spread over the Karelian pie. However, the variety of food met the satisfaction.

Breakfast at scandic's hotels seems to be exactly the same, very rich and very good. The front desk staff were also very friendly and friendly, and the experience was great. Very close to the fat police and the market, there are many places to eat nearby, but they are all expensive.

This studio was very clean, silent , nice neighborhood, everything you have in the apartment. Very good bathroom with good shower and warm floor. Everything was new and fresh. Very good beds and sheets. I recommend to everyone to rent this place. This is quality . My girlfriend @ Laura Felea rented this place and we loved it! Les chalets sont sympa , mais pas à côté de la mer et la vue du notre était sur d'autres chalets donc pas bien pour l'observation d'auro boréales (mais il faut demander qui y en sont mieux placés) si on retour on là on demandera ! Otherwise super to be able to rent skis and skiing on the sea really worth the coup !!!

We booked this hotel in advance for a visit to Oulu and arrived late at night. As we were told previously the place served as a main hospital and was converted into a hotel rather recently. Reception and breakfast area are in a separate building, while accommodation block is in the building next to it. One can reached it either by internal bridge or from outside. Initially i had a problem to locate my room but on a day 2 i got used to the buildings and even found a separate entrance to the living unit. Rooms are rather modern and bathrooms are also excellent. Bedding is of super quality. Breakfast was also good, with variety of food and bit crowded. Location also merits attention, as you can enjoy a walk in the park and river just next to the hotel. In 10 minutes walk you can reach the center of the city and taxi is also parked next to the hotel. Overall great experience and can be considered as a place for stay when in Oulu.

The house served well as a residence for three generations. Cleanliness good, kitchen utensils decent. The proximity to the sea created its own atmosphere and inside the piano crowned the moments of music. We were also favored by the weather and the warmt
