Allegra House

Allegra House is a wonderful place to stay - we spent three nights here over Waitangi Day 5/8 February and enjoyed a relaxing start to our time in New Zealand. Heinz and Britta are great hosts, nothing is too much trouble and the breakfast was delicious. The room was spacious, comfy and had a lovely balcony from which to enjoy the stupendous view across the Bay of Islands to Russell. The property is set on the forested and peaceful slopes above Paihia, so walking back from the town is not for the faint hearted! We thoroughly recommend this b and b.

We stayed here recently as part of a big month long trip and would thoroughly recommend it as a base for exploring the Bay of Islands - we stayed in the top suite which has a lovely balcony so you can properly enjoy the glorious views - the room has a nice shower room and a fridge which is always useful if you get . The hosts Brita and Heinz are very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and provide plenty of leaflets of things to do and places to go. Breakfast was excellent - lots of variety with lovely fresh fruit but prepare to incur the wrath of Heinz if you want his homemade fresh bread toasted . The property has plenty of parking available - please bear in mind it is at the top of hill so be prepared for the walk back if you leave the car when going out for dinner ( have a few drinks - you wont notice it so much ) If we are ever back in the Bay of Islands we would not hesitate to stay here again

Upscale B&B with a great atmosphere and lovely hosts We stayed here for two nights as part of our short round trip. We were warmly welcomed and greeted in our native language right away, which we found very pleasant. Heinz and Brita (originally from Switzerland and UK) have plenty of useful tips if you’re looking for things to do or places to eat. The room we had was excellently equipped and offered a fantastic view of Paihia and the Bay of Islands—absolutely priceless. The entire house is situated on one of the hills surrounding Paihia, overlooking the bay. A generous breakfast was included and, as is common with B&Bs, we had the opportunity to meet other guests during breakfast. It’s served at a large table in Heinz and Brita’s apartment, which also has a great view. If you prefer, you're of course welcome to cater for yourself. Wi-Fi is included, and there’s plenty of parking available. Paihia’s restaurant scene offers something for every taste—even fine dining. It’s also a great base for excursions into the Bay or further north, and Allegra is particularly well-suited for that. We really enjoyed our stay. We would return to Allegra at any time without hesitation.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely delightful. The breathtaking view set the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway, and our room was spotlessly clean, cozy, and comfortable. The real highlight of our visit was the warmth and kindness of our hosts, Brita and Heinz. Their hospitality made us feel truly welcome, and their delicious breakfast was the perfect way to start each day. Without a doubt, we will be returning the next time we visit Paihia!

We can't say enough about the communication we received from Brita, our host. She responded to each and every email both before our stay and even afterwards. this was a great beginning to a two night stay. In the morning their was a beautiful display of fresh fruits, yogurt, homemade bread, cheese, salmon, etc. Heniz also made egggs to order and they were delicious. They had gluten free options for me. actually when we first arrived, Heinz had a plate of cookies for my husband and a plat of gluten free cookies for me. In terms of the room, it was smartly decorated, with a very comfortable bed, bathrobe and slippers. Both Heinz and Brita had many suggestions of things to do. We enjoyed our stay. This is a fabulous B&B!

Fro being greeted by Heinz it was a pleasure to stay at Allegra house .Extremely friendly and helpful . it is a beautiful property we stayed in a top suite for 4 nights . It was an extremely comfortable stay every thing you could ask for . View was stunning , and Breakfast was wonderful special the home made bread . Sitting and chatting with other guests Brita was a joy to chat with . We hope to stay again when Visiting Paihia.
