What a gem ! Beautiful Cotswolds hotel with extremely friendly staff and a lovely dining room . We had been travelling around the Cotswolds all day and arrived early to have pre dinner drinks . There is a lovely bar and lounge with outside terrace with views of the nearby hills . As it was a little cooler we sat in front of the log fire having cocktails and reading our books . Leah the restaurant manageress invited us to move our booking forward which suited us . We started with chefs snacks cheese croquettes, potatoe with cod mousse and mixed charcuterie .We then had the tasting menu which I would highly recommend. We started with the a chicken terrine with asparagus a substitute for salt baked beets which the chef kindly changed . The chicken was crispy on the outside tender inside with beautiful wild garlic sauce and chicken jus just superb . We followed with cod and Romanesque sauce again delightful . Pork loin and belly pork with crackling carrot jam was the delicious main Followed by refreshing mango sorbet Pudding was a gorgeous chocolate cremo with yoghurt sorbet and sesame crisp Then petite fours and coffee All washed down with a superb Malbec Each dish was delightful leaving a lovely aftertaste truly excellent cooking Leah and her staff were delightful making a very pleasant birthday celebration . Highly recommended

A perfect weekend escape. The service was brilliant from every member of the team, and the food was exceptional. The hotel is set is such a beautiful location, and every detail has been thought through. The food menu has great innovation and the quality was exceptional, loved the sharing concept for dinner. Afternoon tea is a must and good value compared to many others. Our room was lovely, the decor relaxed and quirky, perfect. Nothing we asked for was ever a problem, and the team work very well together. Great location also for walking and exploring the stunning scenery. George, China and Daniel made our visit, but all the team are excellent. I can’t wait to visit again. Thank you.

Wow! What a stay! From the moment we were greeted to the moment we left, we were cared for completely! Every last detail was thought of… even some freshly baked biscuits in the room! We were lucky enough to stay in the Lodgemoor Room which had a lovely roll-top bath and a four poster bed. The staff were lovely enough to help with any queries and there was always someone friendly to hand if you needed them. The bar was phenomenal - with drinks upon request and an extensive list of Painswick cocktails to choose from! We spent some of our evening enjoying the complementary pool table - with our cocktails in hand! The food! Wow! From the small plates that were so rich and delicious to the big full English breakfast.. everything was cooked to perfection! Could not fault our stay at all! Will definitely be staying again!

We checked into the painswick for 1 night, and the 2nd night at the sister hotel, the calcot. First impressions were good, and when we were upgraded to a nicer room with fantastic views and a great bathroom we were even more pleased. Service was casual but attentive ( in a good way). The hotel had bags of character and Cotswold charm....beautifully furnished and very atmospheric and cosy. Lovely toiletries as well. Food at dinner was excellent, as was breakfast. Not a great deal to do in this tiny village, but if you want a quiet country night away you could do worse than stay here.

Afternoon to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food was divine!!! The afternoon tea was full of flavour, beautifully presented and delicious. The gluten & dairy free option was amazing. Truly cannot wait to return. Only slight niggle was the lack of comfy/cosy chairs.

Visited for afternoon tea. Gorgeous corner cosy table for four, wonderful service and honestly the selection and quality of food ever experienced and at my mature age have stayed and eaten all around the world in some of the finest . So the award for afternoon tea goes to The Painswick, faultless. Standout might have been the scotch eggs or was it the amazing scone#, simply Devine. Thank you.

Was very fortunate enough to stay at the Painswick recently, and it was perfection. The hotel and it's grounds are absolutely beautiful, granted we were very lucky with the weather so we could make full use of the garden and it's excellent seating areas. The hotel has so many stunning features from balcony's lovely seating areas to a pool table! Our room was very nice with some really nice touches such as the coffee machine radio and complimentary homemade biscuits! The star of the show is the food, I can honestly say the meal we had is right up there with some of the best good I have ever been lucky enough to eat. The Devonshire crab on sourdough toast was divine, we shared a curried monkfish and we'll...it was an absolutely stunning dish. Breakfast was equally as delicious with such quality ingredients. The staff make this place so special all very very nice attentive and excellent at their jobs! We arrived early and got to explore Painswick itself what a stunning place this hotel is perfection thanks Painswick for having us!
