There is an expectations gap issue. At around $500 per night, I expected a much better experience. With Yellowstone in the name, I expected to be closer to the park. It takes at least 45 minutes to get to the park, given we were there to enjoy Yellowstone, this presented an issue. Once booked, Under Canvas does not provide refunds--. We came in late the first night, checked in an attempted to get something to eat. Staff appeared to be working hard but serving us was so slow, we went to Livingstone for dinner, a 20 minute drive. Under Canvas needs more staff given what is charged. Speed limit in Livingstone is 25 MPH. We know this well. We returned earlier on day two and did not even try the restaurant given the day one experience. Here is the worst part. It gets cold at night even in the summer. There is a small stove in the tent. You must reload the stove about every half hour to keep it going. I fell asleep and texted for the fire starter kits at 2am. There was no response. I decided against getting up, getting dressed and walking 200 yards. More kits should be placed in the rooms. It is my first time "glamping." I gave no thought to the freezing issue. Basically, we checked in, got a tent and were on our own. Under Canvas should anticipate comfort items may be needed. It really should respond as promised. We do National Parks and plan on staying close to or in the park from now on. I am a Hyatt Globalist, other unique properties do much better.
