I will be honest and say I picked this hotel purely on price alone without any prior knowledge of the hotel or area. £69 for two including a cooked breakfast? Wow! Didn’t really have high expectations but as we were in Rotherham visiting friends for one day only I thought why not? I didn’t read the reviews as I had already decided in my own mind what I thought it would be! Arrived at 3 pm and got a good welcoming receptionist who gave us room 19. We thought it was more than acceptable, nothing fancy but clean and quite spacious. In the evening we returned to have a few drinks in the bar and we enjoyed listening to the karaoke that was going on in a function room. The hotel has a lot of different areas with pool table and darts board, lounge area and bar area. Plus an outside area too. Seems popular with locals. I enjoyed the banter with one barmaid who was deffo on my wavelength humour wise! She made me laugh. In fact ALL staff were very pleasant and willing to help. I gather the hotel IS popular with functions and I could see why. In the morning we were shown into the breakfast room by the receptionist who asked if we both wanted a full breakfast and what beverage and although no extras, such as cereal or fruit juice (remember was only £7 each) we had a really good full English with toast and tea or coffee. More than happy and actually filled us up through to tea time! My negatives are purely to help but not sure if management actually read. There was no remote control for the tv which I do like to look at before bed. Although we were offered another room, which DID have a remote we couldn’t actually turn the tv on in that room. So as we hadn’t actually taken our stuff, we reverted to our original room. We were offered to move again but declined as it was coming up to midnight. (Staff did their best and maybe reception could keep some spares?). Also ensure all tvs are on standby so guests can switch on easily enough? Although breakfast was fine, our breakfast and teas and coffees were brought out but then the staff disappeared and we weren’t given any sugar or asked if we needed anything else ? We had no idea where they had gone off to? Condiments were actually outside the room ! A young man came to take our plates away but didn’t speak or ask if everything had been ok. These are just picky details that do make a difference. But if you want a fabulous budget hotel I really do recommend. If you have set expectations then probably better to pay more elsewhere. We would definitely stay here again. For the price it was excellent. I quite fancy the tribute acts that are advertised.

Avoid like the plague. Checked in Monday 5th January. All seemed ok. Went down to the bar for a drink and was greeted by the most foul mouthed individual. The guy that checked us in now working behind the bar. Continuously dropping the f word with other customers in the bar. Looked at food menu but decided to eat out. First night was waken at 02.30 by a loud vibrating/ buzzing noise coming from the electric box over the door. (Contractor vibrating). So pulled out the key card from the switch. Then the road noise kicked in at about 04.00. No warning in the hotel description about it being on a busy road. Worse to come. Wednesday night got up to go to toilet. There turns out to be a two from the bedroom floor to the bathroom tiles of a good 15mm. Stubbed my toe on the edge. Result, broken toe. Pointed this out to reception and was met with, has it always been like that? Had no other complaints and it’s our most popular room. Colleague I was working with had a separate room and his room was just as noisy with traffic and the electrics. Emailed the hotel and included photos but no response at all. Did eat one night off the very limited menu of which only 2/3rd of the menu was actually available. Fish chips and peas was ok but obviously fried from frozen.

My main complaint with this hotel was the inability to get any sleep. The one thing which should be an absolute given is a night's sleep. Upon checking into our room it was unbearably hot inside the room; the weather was incredibly hot plus the rooms did not have any air conditioning. Now I totally understand not all hotel's have air-conditioning, I get that, however those which don't will offer the use of a fan. When I enquired about a fan the response I received was "sorry we don't have any left". I'm sorry but a fan should be available for every room in a hotel with no air-conditioning. They were not prepared to give me any money to get a fan from across the road in the shops, £10 for a basic fan & they wasn't bothered. With the room directly on a main road with traffic continuously passing & the need to have the windows open to at least attempt to get some air in the room this made sleep impossible. If I could have gone home I would gladly of left however no public transport was available until the next day. Absolutely horrendous & I will not be returning to this hotel again. I can not recommend a hotel which is not prepared to do everything it can for their guests whom are paying hard earned money for a non existent opportunity to get any sleep. Furthermore the room had the smallest television. Now I am aware a television is not everything but given the inability to sleep there was not much opportunity to watch any television whilst unable to sleep due to the tiny television within the room. There was a hole in one wall within the room, not a great sight! The bathroom was in need of some care for sure; not even a toilet roll dispenser in the bathroom, only a toilet roll storage holder on the floor. Very bad cases of damp on the bathroom walls as well especially around the shower.
