"The room was nice with a beautiful view of the town and over the river with a comfortable bed and all amenities you could want including a washing machine and drying room. Staff were nice and I had a few conversations with the younger guy who told me he was new to the hotel only working there for the last week or so, with impressive English and a charming attitude he made a very good impression and made us feel at home and it felt like all our needs were met. if you’re thinking of booking a place to stay in Fenghuang I would recommend this place in a heartbeat"

"The guesthouse is located on a commercial street right next to the ancient town. Be aware that the street is quite narrow for vehicles, making it tricky to pass other cars. Upon arrival, the owner thoughtfully led us to parking on an electric scooter and then brought the driver back to the guesthouse, which was very convenient. The highlight for us was the guesthouse's balcony, offering direct, unbeatable views of the ancient town! Even when the bars in the old town were lively at night, the guesthouse remained remarkably quiet with the doors and windows closed, ensuring our rest was completely undisturbed. There are plenty of great food options nearby, and you can step directly into the ancient town from the building. Overall, it was a decent stay. However, a significant drawback was the lack of hot water for showers in the evening. It seemed hot water might not be supplied late at night, as our entire family ended up taking cold showers."

"Our hotel stay was in a suite with a spacious balcony offering a stunning view of Hong Bridge (虹桥, Hóngqiáo) in Fenghuang. At night, the bridge was beautifully illuminated, creating a breathtaking scene. The hotel owner, Ah Ming, provided excellent service, always taking great care of us. He helped carry our luggage and even offered a shuttle service to and from the train station.
The heating system, including the room heater, worked perfectly, ensuring a warm and comfortable stay. Ah Ming was incredibly kind and attentive, always ready to assist and provide useful information throughout our stay. This hotel truly offers one of the most spectacular views—an absolutely unforgettable experience!"

"The owner is really a nice person and helpful, i was coming for the first time and not sure about the route so she helped me with it and when i am going the next day she helped me to get a taxi. They even helped me carry my luggage to the taxi and since there are a lot of stairs i am really grateful for it. The room is really clean and new, the toilet and shower room and right next to each other. Its also very convenient since they use AI thus we don’t really have to walk from the bed to open the curtain 😆. The view is also awesome especially during night time. I love the vibe of the room, to me it’s the mix of modern and a little vintage feel. Really recommend this place !"

"We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The location is great—slightly away from the main tourist areas, so it’s peaceful and less crowded, yet still very convenient. There are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, making it easy to find food and essentials.
The hotel faces the river, offering a nice view, and you don’t have to drag your luggage over any rocky paths—the car can drive right up to the entrance, which is a big plus.
We stayed in the rooftop room on the 4th floor. While there’s no elevator, the staff were very helpful and carried our luggage up during check-in and back down when we checked out. The owner and staff were all friendly and accommodating, which made the stay even more enjoyable."

The hotel has a mini market selling very reasonably priced drinks! Very convenient!
Also they did our laundry which is free of charge!
The gentleman arranged a taxi back to Fenhuangzheng train station for 40.00 yuan, which from the station the taxi drivers tried to charge us 250 yuan, be careful! If you prefer you can just take a bus from the station to town and vice versa for 7.00 yuan which is what we took to travel to town!
We loved everything about our stay, from the hotel and the ancient town which is unforgettable!
I would definitely stay again at this hotel."

"This homestay was a bit off the road and 2 large sets of stairs to the front entrance. The staff was wonderful, waiting for us at the street to help with our luggage.
With the use of my daughters translator we were able to book the evening boat tour on the river with the manager. We expected a better view from our room thinking the supplied photo on the room description would be our view. Our mistake. I guess that is the 3rd floor view. The room was really nice, clean and comfortably accommodated 3 adults. The location was great right by the river and one bridge to cross the river.
There was a mix up the following morning with our transfer to the train station but they were able to arrange new transportation and we managed to just make our train. Very little if no English is spoken so a translator app is a must."

There are 14 people in our group and the owner and his team arranged 3 cars to pick us up at the train station and help carry our luggages to our room in the second floor. They also upgraded some of our rooms to the better ones. The river view from the room is very nice. The location is out of the busy area which took approx. 15-20 minutes walk to the main area. I think the location is fine for non-party group like us. Really recommended this hotel for your visit in Fenghuang town."

There is also Tremella soup in the evening~ The first night the lady in the store waited for us until very late, so cold to pick us up in the parking lot, really thank you~ It was an experience beyond expectations~ Recommended!

GGuest UserThis was our second visit. The host was absolutely perfect, helping us get everything perfectly organized. The only thing was, on our first day, we forgot to ask the host for dinner recommendations, so we just picked a Hunan restaurant that seemed busy. Big mistake! Everyone, steer clear! A dish that would cost 38 elsewhere was 138 there. We thought it would be delicious because it was so crowded, but even the chicken tasted off. I suspect all those people were paid shills.
The next day, the 'Whole-Ox Feast' recommended by the host is truly worth recommending – it's incredibly good value for money. Best of all, we got 8 dishes for less than 200 yuan, and every single one was generously portioned and delicious. Even the locals eat there! So, if you're coming to visit, stay with this host and have them recommend the 'Whole-Ox Feast'. Make sure to ask them to book it for you in advance, or you might not get a table. I genuinely recommend it.

From the moment I arrived, the experience was seamless and kind. The manager had even shared directions with my taxi driver to help me find the hotel more easily, and someone came to pick me up right at the entrance of the city — such a thoughtful touch!
The hotel is well located, and my room was spacious — a little worn, but very comfortable with a nice view.
What truly made the difference was the manager’s exceptional kindness. He helped me plan my itinerary, assisted me in booking my bus ticket, and even drove me to the station himself. He waited with me until the bus arrived — such generosity is rare and truly appreciated.
A heartfelt thank you! I highly recommend this place for its comfort and genuine hospitality.

Owners really friendly and offered free drop 9ff and pick up to the valley.
Lots of restaurants and a few shops within a couple of minute's walk.

GGuest UserI had an extra day to spend in my China trip and decided to take a chance and visit Phoenix ancient town for a day. I heard it was better at night so I decided to spend the night and booked the top floor of this stay for the view, and it did not disappoint - it was wonderful! A direct view to the center tower and bridge in town! Service was helpful and gave me a map of the area and showed me where to walk - also helped me to arrange a taxi for the morning. Be prepared there are some steps leading up to the lobby. And, Phoenix ancient town is very small so DiDi may not work there. If coming from afar, get a taxi directly from the train station.

IILOVEKIMIBefore my trip, I chose Zui Xiangxi Hotel on Ctrip after a comprehensive comparison, and I'm so glad I did. The hotel's location is excellent and easy to find, with a convenient parking lot directly in front of the main entrance. It's ideally situated, just 500 meters down the street from the Hongqiao Bridge in the ancient town. This proximity allows for easy exploration of all the attractions along both banks of the Tuojiang River. The rooms are spacious, and the beds are wonderfully wide. The Xiaodu smart control system was also a very convenient feature. The hotel is well-equipped with a variety of facilities. The large restaurant on the first floor offers an extensive breakfast. On the second floor, guests can enjoy a gym, ping-pong and billiard tables, and even foot massage services. The lobby also features a specialty shop with a wide selection of local products at reasonable prices, making it easy to grab some souvenirs. In Fenghuang Ancient Town, where guesthouses are everywhere, Zui Xiangxi Hotel truly stands out as a legitimate, comfortable option offering excellent value for money.

GGuest UserThe service of this hotel is pretty good. The hotel will arrange for someone to pick you up from the train station and send you back when you are leaving. The lady at the front desk is very friendly.
Hotel room is not big but it's functional. Certain parts of the room are slightly worn out. But for the price it's not too bad.
There's a lift in the hotel and cars can go directly to the front door of this hotel so you don't have to carry your luggages and drag them in the town.
About 10-15mins walk to the river.
Overall pretty nice stay.

Mmakia11It’s a wonderful place to stay. The room is spotless and beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. The bed was very comfortable, and the heating worked perfectly in cold weather. The location is also excellent.
The only downside was the bathtub area, which looked different from the pictures. In reality, it has a half-open window instead of a full-size one, so in winter, cold air comes in, making it too cold to take a bath. But in spring or summer, it must be a great experience!
All in all, we had a wonderful, cozy stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!

Cons:
- at the top of a BIG hill (it says elevator is provided but it only brings you to the start of what are a VERY long climb of stairs to your room)
- nowhere did it say the room would only be accessible via stairs (saying they have an elevator is very misleading), only because I read a review which mentioned there were stairs did I make a special request to have my bags kept at reception as I wouldn’t be able to bring them to my room. Even though I booked and made my request in advance (via Trip.com’s process when booking), they did not even read it so I had to deal with this problem once I arrived.
- wiring in the shower (not sure if it’s save or not, but made me uncomfortable)
- due to my tier level with Trip.com I was told I would get; late check out, room upgrade and free breakfast. When they checked me in and I asked about breakfast they told me that I didn’t have it included. After showing them I did, only then did they actually look at my booking - terrible. I then asked about the room upgrade as the hotel was not fully booked and they said that this was the room upgrade… it was not, this was the room I booked (which is fine, I just don’t appreciate being lied to when you clearly didn’t look at my booking).
Overall thoughts:
- if you only have one small bag that you can carry with ease, then it’s great
- if you have large/multiple/heavy luggage don’t book here! You can get a day ticket to walk up the hill (where the hotel rooms are) for pictures of the view
- Trip.com please get this hotel to actually look at the bookings made and to honour special requests and tier privileges where possible
