Absolutely brilliant experience at this top-notch establishment! The location couldn't be more perfect, situated right at the bottom of the road leading to Glentress Car Park. The bike hire service is exceptional - not only are the prices reasonable, but the bikes are immaculately maintained. You can tell they take real pride in their fleet. The facilities are first-rate, and the café and restaurant are genuine highlights. We sampled the food and found it absolutely fabulous - proper hearty fare that hits the spot after a day on the trails. Special mention must go to Murray, who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. His expert knowledge of the local area and trails is impressive, and you can tell he's genuinely committed to ensuring everyone has a magnificent experience at Glentress. He really went above and beyond, sharing his wealth of local knowledge to help us make the most of our visit. For anyone considering a visit - don't hesitate! We'll definitely be returning ourselves. Well worth stopping by for both the biking facilities and the wonderful hospitality. Thanks guys!!!

Absolutely brilliant stay, parked up here on arrival and didn't need the car again for days. You can ride straight into Glentress (Literally next to the gate), Peebles, Innerleithen, over the road to the hills up there for a brilliant trip along the Gypsy Glen, its a car free MTB weekend! I had a great room, nice ensuite and powerful shower, it was clean and tidy with an excellent on site restaurant and bar with friendly staff. Tempest Armadillo was a great end to a night alongside my massive steak and ale pie! What else can you ask for? A bike wash? Secure bike storage? On site bike hire? Yep - it has all that too! Cant wait to go back! Thunderstruck and Mast of Zorro are calling me!

The staff were lovely, the food was good, the room clean. The room and restaurant are very tired. Handy location, plenty of parking. We mentioned that the shower didn't work, the T.V didn't work and nor did the light above the sink. There was no complimentary offer which was a shame.

My 9 year old son and I recently made our first trip over to Glentress and we chose to stay at the Glentress Hotel / Riders Retreat, a venue that is perfect for those who like all things bike! We were very happy with this choice! I contacted the owner (Murray) by email prior to arriving to ask about a few things, such as parking all day before our check-in and also to notify him about my son's dairy allergy as he cannot have milk. Murray replied promptly and there were no problems at all so I was confident before arriving that we'd made the right choice. We arrived to a large Hotel car park, so we had no worries about not being able to get sorted for a day of hitting the trails. When having a break on the trails, we then decided to book a table online for the Hotel's "Handlebar and Grill" restaurant (a name my son thinks is brilliant!) with ease. We checked in during the late afternoon and made use of the secure bike storage and found the Twin Room "Glentress" to be clean, spacious and perfect for our needs. The beds, pillows, sockets and room facilities (sink is inside the room and not bathroom) are all you need for biking and apart from a slightly dodgy window hinge, which had to be closed in a certain way to completely seal - it was the only (very minor) issue. The bathroom was good and we really enjoyed having a decent shower that wasn't like the underpowered, dribbly types you get in other Hotels. It was just what we needed after a dusty day on the trails. We then went to the Handlebar and Grill for our dinner and had a very nice experience. Allergy information is clearly labelled and great care and attention to detail on this subject has been made, which is very refreshing compared to some other places we've been to. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was very good for the price. My son really enjoyed his vegan "Handlebar Hotdog", which with such a good name immediately caught his attention. We had to have a special request made to customise his Hotdog to avoid any milk inclusion and this was delivered without any fuss whatsoever. I ordered the biggest burger on the menu and was incredibly happy with my choice, it was delicious! We sat outside in the sun and had a great time, relaxing and chatting about the day's events. I then ordered a pint of the Tempest IPA and I was really taken aback by how good it was - so much so that I ordered another! Please keep it on tap! We then returned to the room to get a bit of down time and to get some sleep before another day of trail riding. Considering it is close to the busy main road, the Hotel was quiet during the evening / night and we had a very good night's sleep. The next morning, we had breakfast prepared by Murray, the owner. The poached eggs / avocado on sourdough were amazing. Breakfast choice was slightly more limited for my son but he was happy with appropriate cereal and oat milk to cater for his allergy. The coffee was so good I had a second whilst having a very good chat ab

Excellent accommodation and perfectly suited for mountain bikers, hikers or sightseeing tourists. Bike trails literally on the door step as well as hills, Glen's and beautiful scenery. I've stayed on 2 occasions and can't fault. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the restaurant/ bar is fab. Laid back, comfortable and welcoming with an outstanding menu of lovely food and quality beer on tap. Secure bile storage and bike hire also available. Deffo worth the money and I will use again.

There is no better place to stay if your are visiting Glentress. Its literally teh nearest building to the trails, the facilities are excellent, the rooms and entire hotel is MTB themed and the staff are all super friendly. What more can you ask for? There is also no need to look anywhere else for great food end drink, the onsite "Handlebar and grill" has everything you need from a slap up Scottish breakfast complete with haggis, to a nice big venison pie for after your ride, and the Tempest ales on tap are lovely to help you get off to sleep! Cant wait to get back there...

Stayed here many a time, always a great experience. Big Scottish brekkie to fuel your day in the valley, great lunch options for that mid day break, nice big game pie for my evening meal and of course warm, comfy accommodation that doesn’t frown on your for being muddy. A mountain bikers dream.
