Need a place to stay with little kids to break up a trip to Indianapolis. We found Springhill suites in Peoria and thought it can’t be that bad because it’s a Marriott property. Boy were we wrong. When we arrived we found out the pool was “down for maintenance”. In reading reviews it sounds like the pool has been down since at least January. We went to look at the pool to see what was going on. There were HVAC units being stored in the pool room and the lights were hanging out of their sockets in the pool itself. No mention of this was made when I called the hotel to make my reservation and discount was offered for the misleading information. Upon entering the room you could tell it was very dated and lacked maintenance. My 1 year old son quickly found that the door stop was not secured to the floor and was found sitting with the door stop and a 4” screw after he pulled it out of the carpet. The good about the hotel is it is near a lot of decently priced food options. Time for bed, or so we thought. The beds are very hard, pillows too soft and sheets scratchy. This made for a short night. In the morning we got up to find that the shower in our room was broke and we could not shower. Thankfully family was staying in an adjoining room so we could shower over there. We called the front desk and they said “we can give you 1500 points” uhh ok I guess. That does nothing for me since I still don’t have a working shower in my room. Also, how was the shower even cleaned when the shower was broken. We headed down to a very limited breakfast. The highlight of the breakfast was the microwaved sausage patties that resembled hockey pucks. My son had white socks on in our room for less than 2 hours. When we left the hotel the socks were so dirty from the floor in our room that we had to change them. The carpet is full of stains and there was no way housekeeping had done any floor cleaning in the room. We made a list of issues during the stay and made contact with the front desk upon checkout. Sorry’s were given but they couldn’t not process any refunds as the GM had to review the issues first and they were not present at the hotel at 9:45am on a Friday. We pressed some more and were able to get an employee to process full refunds on both rooms. Trust the reviews on here. Marriott has lost a customer over their blatant disregard for this property.

During our stay, the hotel was without running water for parts of Friday. For the duration of our stay, the air conditioning did not operate correctly on the first floor, and it was extremely hot in the common areas. The pool was completely drained and not available for use during our stay. Our rooms were dirty and borderline disgusting. My shower was so dirty that I did not feel comfortable showering without footwear on. It reminded me of being back in the college dorms having to shower with flip flops on. In addition, one of our families reported having blood stains on their carpeting. My favorite part was the sign in the lobby acknowledging that the property is in disarray, but not really apologizing for the state of the hotel or offering any sort of gesture that shows that hotel is truly apologetic. The hotel charges a premium price, but doesn't really deliver a premium, or even acceptable, guest experience. The hotel General Manager, Curt does not seem to care and lacks any sort of compassion or customer service skills. He was very aggressive and argumentative with the guests, and he was just an off putting person to interact with. During one of my interactions with him, he was aggressively talking to me on the phone and gave me an ultimatum that I could stay at his hotel or good luck finding somewhere else. This was an absolute nightmare experience, with a property that is falling apart, and a General Manager who does not know how to provide a great or even acceptable customer experience. Not once has he apologized or offered acceptable compensation for the terrible experience we encountered.

I went for a business trip not knowing the horrid environment I was putting myself in. The front desk assistant looked so miserable. (I feel your pain sister). The pillow cases smelled so bad I could not sleep. Mold everywhere! The bath tub was so bad I was gagging while showering. No ventilation in the bathroom. Shower DIRTY! Floors DIRTY! Couch DIRTY! Whole room in general DIRTY! Never returning again.

It is unbelievable to be that Marriott has their name associated with this location. Yes, it is an older hotel, but that is no excuse for the filthiness. From sticky, stained carpet to dirty curtains to dirty shower curtains to broken couches to broken, jagged tiles to the horrid stench, this was hands down the worst hotel I’ve been in. Stay Away! Marriott - Do Better.

I have had some time away from this situation to regroup. Last Friday evening, May 31, I checked into SpringHill Suites in Peoria, IL. As soon as I entered the room I was absolutely disgusted. There were red stains all over the floors and the walls. There were stains on the couch. The bathroom was filthy and there was a used towel left as well. It appeared that the floors hadn’t been vacuumed as there were crumbs all over. I pulled back the covers on both beds to ensure that the beds were clean enough to sleep in. One of the beds had a large stain in the center of the fitted sheet. Luckily there were only two of us in the room and we were able to share the other bed. We refused to shower in the disgusting bathroom or walk around the room without shoes or leave any of our personal items on the floor. The next morning we found a bed bug crawling around the bathroom. A photo was sent to an exterminator and was confirmed as a bed bug. We immediately packed our bags and checked out of the hotel, one day early.  Room 210 of this hotel was the most disgusting hotel room I have ever stayed in. I should have been offered an apology at the very least when I brought attention to this matter. I sincerely hope this room isn’t offered to other guests.  The group we traveled with to the area have stayed in this hotel previously. I can guarantee none of us will be staying there again.

Room was AWFUL! There was a big red stain on the floor, bathroom was nasty. I had yellow stains on my sheets. For this hotel being a Marriott is very sad. The room itself was fine, but definitely needs a change with all the stains. Never coming back here.

Drove here from Michigan to attend a concert. The front desk staff is so friendly however, the hotel needs some work and def needs a better breakfast attendant. both mornings, a lot of the food items were out and took forever to be restocked. The coffee bar was a mess with no sugar. Also, please offer another meat option, the turkey sausage is so gross. It wouldn't be my first choice, when coming back to the area.

The staff at the front desk was awesome!!! But the rooms were just plain gross. My lamp shade had five inch holes in it, our sofa sleeper was missing a back cushion, the carpet was stained. My son's room had a 15 inch stain in the middle of the room. The tubs were severely stained. We actually had some family check in and immediately check out because there was red stains on the carpet and the ceiling.
