Hotel Petersburg, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

I was making the trek from Vermont to Florida with my mom and after 15 hours in the car we decided to stop. I found this property and it was relatively close to the highway as well as a Hilton property. We were tired when we arrived but were greeted but the very friendly front desk agent, I believe her name was Andrea? She was so lovely and peppy for 11pm and made us feel welcome right away. She gave us some info and we headed up t the room. When we got in the room was extremely hot and we instantly had to crank the AC, but honestly we were too tired to care. The room was huge and so was the bathroom, we were impressed with the size. The beds were comfy and we crashed right away and slept through the night. At check out the staff was again very kind as they wished us safe travels on our way out. The only real downside was the confusion on how to get in. We arrived just after 11pm and tried multiple doors which were locked. And while that makes sense it would have been nice if there was a song instructing us on what to do next like call the hotel or knock, hit a button, ect. Eventually someone (maybe the valet worker?) opened the door and let us in. Once I checked in and got instructions on the self parking I was surprised that this would cost an additional 10$ which was a bit of a bummer especially considering the walk. All in all it was exactly what we needed after a long day, the historic feel was a neat experience we weren’t expecting.

This new hotel is really unexpected for Petersburg and, hands-down, the best hotel in or near the city. I’m hopeful it might be a start to some improvement to otherwise fairly dismal city. The tile has been very nicely renovated and is more upscale than it’s current pricing. It was a bit quiet when I was there on a Wednesday night, but that is to be expected in Petersburg. The street level bar and restaurant appeared to be quite nice and there were a number of people in there, but I did not try it out. The rooftop bar looks very nice and I got some pictures from the window leading out to it, but it was closed on Wednesday looks like it would be a great place to relax in Petersburg. The room was quite spacious, as was the bathroom. One odd thing that I’ve seen another reviewer mention is that the window to the bathroom is only partly clouded and the shower and bathroom is directly in view of the building across the street– very poor on privacy if there are any creeps in that building. (Also, something else someone commented on, the temperature setting can be a little bit difficult to figure out, as you may have to go into a menu or two to actually set the heating or cooling temperature you might want – it was cool in the room and I thought I was raising the temperature, but while it was not readily apparent, it was actually raising the A/C temperature and really doing nothing to help warm the room a bit.) the hotel is right in the heart of downtown, near a number of restaurants and right across the street from the courthouse.

The staff here is excellent from the valet to the check-in. The hotel is newly renovated like new. The bar is a neat area and the restaurant is the best food in town! The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are modern. I would highly recommend staying here when in town.

The valet deante service was excellent! From the moment we arrived, the attendant greeted us with a smile and offered to help with our luggage. He quickly parked our car and returned it promptly when we asked. He was very professional and efficient, and we felt completely safe leaving our car in his care.

Hotel Peterscurb, Tapestry Collection is such a nice hotel. The staff was the friendliest and kindest. The hotel is somewhat luxurious and the price is very affordable. My family and I plan to stay here anytime we are around this area. Super recommended!

We originally booked this Hilton and were excited to stay here, but then we found out about Spring Church Bed and Breakfast in Skippers, VA and chose to stay there instead as it was also conveniently located. The B&B turned out to be a hidden gem - immaculate and beautiful. We would personally drive the extra distance to get to that B&B again, but if you’re looking to be right in Petersburg this one appears to be the best in the area.
