The Old Village Hotel & Resort

This is absolutely my new favorite place for a getaway. We’ve stayed at all of the major resorts a long the Dead Sea and Aqaba and as nice as those places are, I’d come back here first every time. The resort itself is set in an actual ottoman era village dating back at least 250 years. It’s been updated to luxury accommodations without sacrificing historical significance or architecture. The resort is owned and run by members of the local tribe and the care they put into this establishment reflects the celebrated tradition of kindness, hospitality and love of history and nature the people of Wadi Musa are known for. There is an indoor pool as well as outdoor. This is rare for a resort in Jordan and is definitely a plus if you’re planning a winter getaway. The hot tub is just outside and is well heated and large enough to accommodate several people. Golf cart transport to and from your room is always available and timely. This is important as the grounds are large and full of inclines. The food… THE FOOD…. Whether it’s a pre-set menu or the full buffet, it’s absolutely amazing! So many resorts put out a lovely display that sadly lacks in flavor. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been disappointed by this. However it was absolutely not the case here. Every dish from breakfast to dinner is fresh and full of flavor and clearly prepared with great care. My only complaint was the overpriced soda. 3jd for a can of ginger ale is steep. In conclusion, if you’re visiting from out of the country, or you’re looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of Amman for a few days, this is absolutely the perfect destination. We will be back soon!

Very friendly staffs. Our rooms were built into the cave which was very neat. I am most impressed with the restaurant staffs. My son has peanuts & nuts allergy. We only told them the first night when we had our dinner to point out what not to eat. The next 2 breakfasts & dinner, the chef would come over right away to tell my son which dishes to avoid !

This was our second time to The Old Village. This whole place is an experience in itself and the perfect complement to Petra. The Old Village is basically exactly that - an old village with cottages which are styled in the theme of Petra. It is breathtaking, huge, great breakfast, lovely pool and staff who cannot do enough for you. The rooms all have natural stone in them, the aircon and heating work really well and you have lots of outside space. This is the only place I will stay in when in Petra.

Wonderful view from our room overlooking the city. History from this site is amazing. Staff was on point meeting all of our needs. Loved how we could call for a golf cart and be taken anywhere on the property we wanted. Water pressure and temperature were good with all necessary amenities. Bed was not a king but two beds put together(not okay). Location was great only 7min from Petra.

A lovely historic setting with great views out over the valley. The rooms were clean and comfortable but also very characterful and our balcony gave us amazing sunset views. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, small gym, cafe and restaurant, gift shop and spa. The staff could not be more welcoming and friendly, the manager even checked I was happy with the pool temperature when he saw me in the indoor pool. The dinner buffet had some delicious local options. I would stay here again if I returned to Petra.
