The hotel is a bit old and the service staff's attitude is average. The breakfast buffet is great and parking is right at the door.

Pleasant hotel in the fine fortress the Austrians left in Petrovaradin in the 18th century. In a quiet position, many of its rooms (including mine) overlook the Danube and Novi Sad. I had a comfortable spacious room with a sitting area. Good bathroom and wifi, and the management was helpful getting me a taxi for my train. Breakfast was included and ok, except that the hot food heaters were turned off a good 30 minutes before the end of breakfast. There are two good restaurants next door with terraces and views in fine weather. It’s an easy and pleasant walk into Novi Sad’s interesting, historic centre. Traveller’s tip: the Museum of Vojvodina in the city centre is fascinating, especially the section covering the World Wars and Trianon. But don’t bother with the very boring Museum of Novi Sad near the hotel - it only covers prehistory.

Loved being up in the fortress with great views, but this is an old, dated hotel, fine if you have the right expectations. Very friendly service. Responsive to our request for extra blankets. Breakfast average. Very cold in the room, and strangely heat didn’t come on until the morning. Safe didn’t work.

Great location up on a hill overlooking Novi Sad…..great sense of the heritage and history of the area. Charming hotel which takes you back in time, staff is friendly and accommodating. We had a room overlooking the river which was lovely……the room could have used some maintenance. Very old style hair dryer …..the boxes on the wall kind of thing, room needed a paint job….very scuffed up walls, very low and rather hard beds, breakfast had ok selection but needed attention to detail…….only tea available was fruit or green… no black tea, eggs were not heated up, coffee was ok. If you want a historic property with a good view and aren’t looking for 5 star….this is a good choice

One of the best hotels in ever been ,i made hundreds of visiting to other countries but this one in my opinion was one of the best.it just take you to another century was inside the fortress on top of the hill with ancient walls around it . Inside the hotel was brilliant so nice like a palace, with paintings in every room . Very polite staff ,very clean and breakfast was very good . The view from above is amazing you can see the whole town of Novi Sad and in day time you can have your coffee near the walls with view of the river. I really reallly recomended to all they want to visit Novi sad .

Wow! What an experience. It's truly unreal to stay in this baroque fortress building. The hotel building itself was formerly a military building but has been a hotel for at least 70 years. The hotel upgraded us to one of the fancier rooms which was so amazing. The antique looking furniture in an ancient building just added to the ambiance. I'd seen some complaints about the fancy rooms having a Jacuzzi instead of a shower - but that's not accurate. The shower is MADE my jacuzzi - its a brand, not a hot tub! The bathroom was just fine! In fact, the water pressure in the shower was amazing. The room overlooked the river which was just so nice. The bed was nice and comfortable and we made good use of the sitting area of the room to just sort of enjoy the whole experience. The staff was really nice and helpful. Every single staff member I met was kind and wanted to make our stay as good as can be. The fitness center was honestly only OK. There is a treadmill, a multi-gym, some weights, and a bike but the bike wasn't working. We used the sauna but the jacuzzi tun wasn't running. (It's the off-season - most likely.) If we had one complaint is that there are three night clubs around the hotel and the music went really late. (I just turned on some white-noise and went back to sleep.) The breakfast was also excellent! And eating it in that restaurant environment just added to how good the experience was. Overall, the stay was excellent.

No, this hotel was not good. I made reservations online. The reservation process was easy and straight forward. I reserved one of the classical suites located in the first floor. These are the most expensive rooms. The rooms are dated. The bathroom is not good. The sink does not have enough space to place the essentials. The most expensive rooms do not have showers; they have a jacuzzi instead of a shower. Honestly, it is difficult to take the morning bath in a jacuzzi. You don't feel clean. There are no curtains or glass windows. It becomes messy with water. The essentials provided by the hotel are not good quality. The shampoo and the bar soaps are not good. Once the jacuzzi is hot, it is very difficult to stop the water from running as the faucet that controls the hot water gets stocked. The rooms are very noisy at night. The jacuzzi cleans itself over night and the noise is terrible. You have to disconnect the jacuzzi. If the night is cold, you need to turn the heater on and the heater is noisy as well. The daytime front desk staff is nice and they speak very good English. At night, they have some senior interns who don't speak English and who are not nice; they don't want to help. Breakfast is mediocre. Coffee is terrible. There is no fruit. Breakfast menu offers some greasy eggs and sausages. The morning waiter is nice. Room service and menu is bad. When you order meals, you have to remind them to bring silverware as well. Carpet is old. Furniture is old. The rooms are cramped. Bed mattress is ok. It is an old hotel. The good features are: 1. Parking is spacious and free. 2. There are nice views of the Danube river. 3. The hotel is located in the Petrovaradin fortress which is one of the most interesting sites in Novi Sad. It is not far from Novi Sad downtown (20 minutes walking distance). 4. The price is high for the quality it offers; however, when compared with similar hotels in other parts of the world or even in Serbia, the hotel is not too expensive. 5. It is not massive. It does not feel crowded. I recommend exploring some of the new and modern hotels in Novi Sad. Their prices are similar, they have showers, rooms are more spacious, quiet, and modern.
