Popular Phu Quoc Island 4-star Hotels

We booked for 6 weeks; the Lahana thought we'd got our booking incorrect! However, we were shown to our bungalow on top of hill overlooking beautiful landscaped gardens. Our room was large and spacious, good size bathroom with bath tub and outside shower. As we spend 3 months in the Far East we tend not travel light. The wardrobe was not large enough for all our cloths, but, we used wicker baskets for extra storage.[might be worth management take on board?] Breakfast was a delight of the day. Various fruits, eggs, meats and salads also Vietnamese favourites. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Viet, Kim,Nico, I could name them all. The whole LAHANA team! Would we return? YES. My only reservation is Phu Quoc has only really just started as a tourist trap. I t needs to clean up its beaches and surrounding roads and lanes! I'm sure it will! Reminded me of Phuket 20 years ago! Now spotless. Thank you Lahana for a wonderful holiday!

While we initially doubted when we arrived, the stay at this resort has exceeded our expectations. Staff is really friendly and accommodating, great breakfast with fresh baked baguettes and bread, happy hour drinks next to the pool in the afternoon and nice colonial style rooms and environment. Will certainly revisit !

Pros: - good location, walking distance to Grand World - low price, best if you don’t spend much time at the hotel and mostly out and about - clean and modern decor Cons: - no aircon in corridor and elevator, it can be very uncomfortable to step in the elevator on hot days - no room service, no service at pool area, no option to pay for food and beverage at check out. - minibar is empty, instant coffee and tea bags are available yet no milk. When we requested milk for our cup of tea, the reception staff advised we would need to go to the bar (ground floor) to purchase milk at own cost. Milk is essential and it has always been provided free of charge wherever we’ve been (Bali, Singapore, Australia, etc.) - mid-stay ROOM INSPECTION. This is very UNPLEASANT practice to Westerners and should be stopped. Not sure if this is normal in Vietnam, but it is very displeasing and annoying to us (Australians). We often stayed a few weeks to months in Bali and other Asian countries, we’ve never had room inspection where 2 staff entered our room, 1 of them walked around the room pretending to check the skirting board with a screwdriver while the other was casing the room (it was obvious that they wanted to check to room). - poor English proficiency. Only one reception staff can speak English well, the rest of the staff don’t. My husband was quite frustrated during our stay because he couldn’t communicate with staff. We’ve stayed in Bali and other Asian countries, all of their staff are fluent in English including security and housekeeping staff. - lack of attention to food safety. Signage is very small. No cover when the meals bought outside to the pool area. Food was not kept at optimum temperature can cause bacteria to grow to dangerous levels that can cause illness. - lack of knowledge about beverage. Staff didn’t understand my husband’s order of Bourbon + Cola (very common drinks to Westerners) and advised they don’t have Bourbon. When my husband went to the bar with the staff, there was a big Bourbon bottle sitting on the shelf! - lack of customer service. Staff was not attentive to customers, my husband had to walked to the restaurant to get staff attention when we wanted food and drinks while we were at the pool. Staff should walk around and simply check in with customers. Staff didn’t greet customers when they walk past, again when we were in Bali and other Asian countries, their staff (everyone including housekeeping staff) always said good morning, good afternoon or good evening. - FACIAL BIOMETRICS RECOGNITION was an entry requirement to enter buffet breakfast. This should be disclosed in booking description including third-party websites like Agoda, Booking.com, etc. No information on Facial Biometrics Recognition are found anywhere or has ever been communicated to us prior to checking in. Covid did no mercy to the hotel. The lobby and restaurant look tired, but it is overpowered by the stunning view of the sunsets and comfortable rooms! The breakfasts are very good and varied. There is construction nearby, so it is dirty around the hotel.

We have loved every second in this resort. It was the very first one on the island, 20 years ago. And let's not forget that the island didn't get electricity until 2006. With that in mind, the property is spaced out over lovely grounds with palm trees and other tropical plants which are well maintained along nice paths. Many of the bungalows have seafronts with little private balconies. The beach by the hotel doesn't have great access to the sea but there is a lifeguard pointing you in the right direction every day. The sunsets are stunning from this location as are seeing the thunderstorms roll up. Every night you can see a line of twinkly lights, indicating fishing boats. The sea is a bit rough on this side of the island but still perfectly swimmable for a refresh after a hot day sightseeing. The breakfast is served every morning in the restaurant and has a great combo of both Asian and Western dishes and there is a cook on standby who will cook your eggs and/or pancakes anyway you like. There are tables which look out over the sea or across the swimming pool. Both the seafront and the pool are cleaned everyday by a raft of staff. The reception staff are very welcoming and speak good English and for anything more complicated there are plenty of translation apps to help you. We hired cushions for our sunbeds at less than £3 a day. We also frequently dipped into the minibar where beers weren't even a £1 and wine was only £15 (its imported from Australia hence slightly more expensive). The laundry service we also used often as we needed to get changed frequently being absolutely not used to the heat and humidity (coming from England, I think we can be forgiven). The cleaning ladies seemed to take great pride in their work and managed to turn our room back into a palace every day, we felt very well looked after. Everywhere in the grounds there is free WiFi but we also bought a sim for only a couple of pounds for the entirety of our stay. The air-conditioning in the room was an absolute delight! The beds are huge and comfortable, there are chairs and a desk in the room as well as a large wardrobe. The hotel provides dressing gowns and crocks which can be used around the grounds and brollies can be taken around town (during rainy periods you will see many hotel brollies represented around town). The TV isn't great, but who comes on holiday to watch the telly anyway? The resort is perfectly placed between hundreds of shops, bars and restaurants and of course the nightmarket. The John's Tours Office is also close by. There are always taxis by the hotel ready to take you anywhere. It helps if you've got a screenshot on your phone to show the taxi driver where you'd like to go. Virtually all taxis provide complimentary water and all drivers use translation apps to converse with you, amid much hilarity. This is a great hotel! Our room was extraordinary with a seaside view. We had two very comfortable beds, hot water, electronic safe, fast internet, good access to transportation, and a stunning rooftop pool. The staff was friendly and professional and the massage class was worth taking. I rarely eat the complimentary breakfast when traveling in Asia but the breakfast here was very good with a wide range of choices. The serving staff was attentive and polite and I was able enjoy a more western style brunch while my wife (who is Vietnamese) enjoyed a well prepared Pho and fresh vegetables. I have traveled in Vietnam a half dozen times now and this is my new favorite hotel. We will definitely book it again. Ken Clark

We had the pleasure of staying at the Camia resort during the last week of December. It exceeded our expectations and we loved the intimate feel of the resort. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and I would especially like to mention Nhi (Katty) at reception who is a real gem. She went out of her way to make us feel at home, give us advice and made my husband’s birthday special by organizing a small cake and for our bed to be beautifully decorated. They all made us feel like family and that is why we would love to stay there again should we ever return to Phu Quoc. If your budget allow it, I would highly recommend staying in an Ocean villa. It is not only spacious with a lovely view from the balcony, but the open air rain shower is so romantic. We also loved the infinity pool and to relax next to it during happy hour and watching the sky change from a deep orange to many shades of pink. The cocktails are delicious and the setting of the restaurant lovely overlooking the ocean. We did find the food at the restaurant being hit and miss and this is the only thing I feel need improvement. There are many restaurants in close proximity and I can recommend “On the Rocks”. The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly, a few more western options would be nice. We were very impressed with the Christmas party hosted on Christmas eve. The decor was lovely and the food delicious. The gardens in the resort are so well kept with wild flowers and lots of green trees and plants. The use of the kayaks are for free, you just need to book in advance. I did not get to try out the spa but it’s located conveniently next to the pool. The complimentary transportation from the airport was also much appreciated. If in doubt where to stay, just book this little paradise. You will not be sorry !!!!

Amarin is a 4 stars hotel, just been renovated recently. It has a swimming pool next to the Truong Beach (Long Beach), surrounded by coconut trees. Sea view room is nice, clean with various amenities, slippers, normal bathrobes, special-tropical bathrobes (for sleeping and go swimming!), shopping platic bag, umbrella... we spent balcony for late night drinks and listen to the sound of the sea. The staffs of Amarin are nice, useful and very friendly. They make our trip and staying more enjoyable! Food and drink are okie. We love buffet breakfast with many kind of tropical juice and fruits. The hotel is not very far from Phu Quoc night market, local shopping centers (travel by Vin bus, taxi or renting a motorcycle...). In the morning, we ran along the beach (1km or more) in front of the hotel; in the afternoon we have had dinner in the restaurant (in order to see the sunset).  We will come back Amarin again! One more thing: If I were the owner, I will make the sunset bar and the private beach more beautiful: move the very big  wooden chairs at the lobby to a suitable place!!

Great hotel! Room 806 was very clean, quiet, cool and comfy. The breakfast (included) was very good with a big selection of meals. A special thanks to Huong who works in the restaurant, she was very helpful, friendly and polite. Thanks again Huong! The pool was clean and relaxing.

Location 15 minutes from the airport, 1 kilometer from Duong Dong, 500 meters from Long Beach, grocery shops, restaurants nearby, excellent. Room was large, huge bed, good bathroom with tub, no balcony but great views to the sea, aircond. Staff was helpful and friendly. Airport drop-off and pick-up worked well. Breakfast was good for quality and quantity measures. Big swimming pool. The price was really affordable, spent there 11 nights. Not much of western tourists hole time, 3 plus us. Good choice for accommondation while in Phu Quoc.
