I stayed here for 4 days as a solo traveler. It was very clean with a nice medium sized rooftop pool. The location is just ok - on the main road about a 15 minute walk to the beach. The view was not good - I was on the second floor and looked out on a garage. But what made this hotel 5 stars is the front desk. They were always very helpful. And when I was checking out I was taking the smart bus up to the airport and they were worried about me getting to the airport on time (they can sometimes be a bit late) so they had someone walk up to the bus stop about 100 meters away and make sure the bus came on time, and they were ready to get a cab for me if it was not - just extra special service you don't often get from a hotel front desk.

There is nothing platinum or resort like at this hotel , rooms with balcony’s over look a shanty town where locals live , a smelly river running through . Room was ok bit rough around the edges . If you have a room without a balcony be prepared for a lot of traffic noise , they are on the front of the hotel on a very busy main road , we witnessed a few older men bringing young girls into the hotel telling reception they were their wives or daughters !! Would not return to this hotel

This is the perfect spot if you want to stay in Kamala beach Room was amazing and the staff so helpful. We also used the kiosk in the hotel to book trips ion the island of Phuket which we all really enjoyed. Roof top pool bar ,bar, restaurant and maid cleaned our room everyday the service was exceptional at the Ratana . So many bars and restaurants in the area and only a short walk to the beach. Supermarkets on your doorsteps . Big boys burgers restaurant only a 7 minute walk from the hotel was our favourite. Aussie pub for all the sports and they were more than happy to allow multiple sports on various screens. We went to Kabanis restaurant in Patong well worth a visit . Our room at the the Ratana was the sea turtle room. This is on the 4th floor with 2 rooms , 2 toilets ,massive living area, balcony . One of the nicest rooms we have stayed in. Shem I return to Thailand and in the Phuket area this is one I would revisit..
