Ibis Hotels in Pingyao

Great place in Pingyao. It is reasonably priced, a bit out of the very center (meaning also out of tourists crowds that can be quite noisy in the evenings and mornings), but still close, has same old-style design as the more popular and well-established places that cater to foreigners, but priced twice as much. Pick-up and drop off service is provided - just contact the hotel in advance via phone using the reception of tour previous hotel - no one speaks English - it will solve your communication issue if you do not speak Chinese. At the place itself everyone is very eager to help - use your phone app to translate. Onwer helped me to buy tickets to Pingyao attractions and Terracota Army as I was heading to Xian next (available only through WeChat Pay that is in turn is not availablefor foreign tourists as of April 2023). If you go to Shuanglin temple, be sure to ask to buy tickets through WeChat for you as well. I was able to buy physical one by pure compassion of local guard who asked the staff to open ticket office just for me (Probably was the only foreigner in Pingyao at a time). Please also note that as of April 2023, the reconstruction works in the historical city parts are continuing, so, large chunks of the city within the walls are not looking as great as it could have been. The very center of the city is mostly untouched though and you can still come and explore. If going in spring, be prepared for the temperature swings. I got a temperature drop from 28C to 3C within 2 days by the moment I got to Pingyao. It was even snowing at night.

Really love the hotel’s a**osphere. It is cool both scenery and weather. There aren’t much noice and people around the hotel, a little walk and you will reach some of the tourist’s attraction. Some employees can speak english or if not, wechat is the best help. They also booked taxi and drop us off by the taxi, the service was wonderful. Will stay here again if there’s a chance of visiting.

During the Qingming Festival, I stayed at Pingyao Xinghui Hotel. From the location, it is located in the prosperous area of ​​the ancient city, very close to Yingxun Gate, and it is very convenient to play in the ancient city. The interior of the room is decorated in an elegant new Chinese style, and the solid wood furniture shows the ancient Chinese charm and full of Shanxi characteristics. The space is spacious and the layout is reasonable, suitable for family or multiple people. The sanitation is good. Although the ancient city has a bit of quaint atmosphere, the room is clean and tidy. The service is also very considerate, the staff is warm and thoughtful, and also provides pick-up and other services. Overall, it is a good accommodation experience.

The hotel is in an original building from the foundation of the town, very interesting and characteristic. The location is great, near all of the touristic attractions but also very quiet and reserved. Didi cannot drive into the ancient city (we didn’t know that in advance), so we had to walk a bit with our luggage on the cobblestone streets. The hotel staff can help book a car that can arrive to their courtyard, which is a lot more convenient.

I took my kids out to play and stayed at Yunjincheng Mansion. It is a very good hotel. Before I came, the housekeeper Juaner contacted me and sent me some travel information. She was very considerate. She indicated the route on the day of check-in. In order to consider the traffic jam problem for the guests, she arranged staff to pick them up in advance. The journey was smooth. The staff took the luggage throughout the journey. I was very satisfied. The service is really the ceiling of the hotel. The room is clean and sanitary, the facilities are complete, and the dean is very unique. A vibrant hotel.

Red lantern Inn gives the best service among all the hotels I’d stayed so far in China. The owner and his wife picked me up from the Train station 20 min away. The location is superb, inside the old city and located just 5 min walk from the North Gate. The Mansion is so beautiful and well kept for hundreds years old building unless you like everything new or modern. The best part is Xiao Lei, the sweet and polite inn keeper who’s extremely helpful although we had to use Google translator to communicate. He goes all out of his ways to do anything to make your stay comfortable and your visit enjoyable. He cannot explain how to but the ticket for the Old city, so he walks with me to the office. He also drives an electric truck to deliver my luggages to the north gate and call the taxi for me to the airport. I’ll definitely come back to stay here if I come visit Pingyaogucheng again. I completely recommend this inn to everyone.

The hotel is in an excellent location, about a ten-minute walk to the ancient city! The hotel facilities are well maintained, the hygiene is satisfactory, the service is thoughtful and in place, especially the humanized management makes people feel like spring breeze! When the room needs to be renewed temporarily, the front desk clerk took the initiative to help coordinate, avoiding the trouble of changing rooms due to lack of similar rooms, and also took the initiative to send breakfast for the children. Such warm service is very touching, and I would like to express my deep gratitude here!!!

The boss will come to pick me up at the station in person. He contacted me the day before check-in, so it was very smooth from Pingyao High-speed Railway Station to the B&B. The boss is very enthusiastic. Because it is off-season, although I only booked one room, I can actually say that the whole yard is reserved for me. This yard is even a cultural relic protection unit. It is said that it was once the house of the owner of Weitaihou Ticket. Living here feels like talking to the past. Maybe the original owner was sitting in a rocking chair and looking at the night sky like me. It is a wonderful experience. Location: It takes about five minutes to walk from Xiaonanmen. The luggage does not need to be dragged far. It is also very close to the main attractions. You can see the County Ya Street after walking about 100 meters. Hygiene: It is very clean, but only electric water heaters can be used in the ancient city. You have to wait for the hot water to be heated after it is used up. I slept very well. The boss recommended several places to eat and the taste is also very good. I can only say that it is really good to come in the off-season. Originally, there was no delivery at the station, but the boss not only sent us to the high-speed railway station in the end, but also sent two bottles of local food vinegar. It really exceeded expectations!

Good experience in this boutique Hutong hotel in Pingyao . The room is big and extremely comfortable , the breakfast is in a local style , the cleaning is fine and the architecture is amazing . Really easy to get from the central train station and inside the ancient city.
