So we had a very good experience at this resort! We just got back home early Sunday morning (May 4). It's probably the nicest and cleanest resort we've ever been to! There are definitely some pluses and minuses that depending on who you are, may or may not matter too much. We're pretty easy going so we worked with it all. Most reviews have covered these but I'll point out some high level experiences. The resort staff are all amazing humans! We're there a few that glared at us at the Buffet? Sure, but we aren't bothered as we understand that life is very different there than here (Canada). The food is actually the biggest shortcoming. We went to 2 restaurants and stopped there. The buffet was also not great. We were in 'The Level' and I can't recommend doing that enough!!! The restaurant that's exclusive to The Level is really good! The beach is beautiful and the water is crystal clear with no seaweed! But are the rocks and coral hard to navigate? Absolutely. Water shoes is a must! We're ocean/beach ppl and actually loved it! Great loungers and beds on the beach and we had no problem finding somewhere to hang. The resort facilities are as good as it gets! The rooms are clean and well laid out and navigating around the resort is easy! We had quite a bad experience renting an electric car and driving to Trinidad. The cars are not made for the roads in Trinidad as the wheels are far too small! It was concerningly bumpy, people were literally walking past us. We also ended up with a horseshoe nail in a tire and had to get it fixed at a 2nd mechanic in Trinidad (as the first one didn't have the correct wrench either) thanks to an amazing passerby helping us out. That said, the cost to fix the actual 6 holes in the tire was $90USD!!! If the tire had blown and we had no help and had to use the spare, the wrench in the trunk didn't fit the bolts on the wheels! Also, the spare had a slash in it! One of the tires was inflated to double the rating - which was concerning! We were refunded the $30USD to rent the vehicle but are out the $90USD repair cost to fix their tires. We didn't even see the tourist area in Trinidad as we just drove straight back to the resort. We did have a great time with the very many French Canadians, Portuguese, etc. guests! There isn't any music at the Level pool but some guests brought Bluetooth speakers and made it fun. It's a chill resort but it absolutely can be fun if you meet fun guests. The entertainment was pretty good! They had a beach party that was great and the live music was well done! I'm a musician and was super impressed with the performers. All in all, we enjoyed our stay minus a few shortcomings that again, depending who you are, are not all that bad! Highly recommend upgrading to The Level, absolutely bring water shoes and keep your expectations reasonable!
