I want to be fair but also need to complain. This hostel thinks it's a nightclub hosting public parties daily starting from afternoon to 3am. No chance to rest after a day at beach and definitely not at night. Had to stay out as long as we could to avoid the loud music. Location,facilities etc all fine but don't expect to relax here, unbearable. They are peaceful hostels elsewhere.

I stayed at Sayab hostel it is a good option for Playa Del Carmen. The hosts were nice and taking care of everything for the guests to have a good time. Safe, fun, clean hostel calm during the day at night seemed better time to meet people. Small party social gathering around the bar area with music

This place has such a great vibe. It really has put a lot f time in to help guests have the best experience while staying in down town (Without the noise) The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The bicycle and motorcycle rental guys are great too

Only stayed one night but had a great time there. Sophie working at the reception desk is awesome. Super friendly and helpful. There's a bar in the courtyard and they've got different events going on at different nights. There's also a bike rental and scuba tour company working here as well so that's convenient. I wouldn't hesitate staying here again.

If I were judging this like a boutique hotel, I'd give it 5 stars. I absolutely loved the pool area, which we usually had to ourselves, with trees and sun loungers and the modern building in the background. Very pretty. I'm not sure I ever saw the bar manned once during my four days there, but I'm sure we could have gotten someone to serve us drinks if we'd asked. Big bonus was that they had water refill stations downstairs. The kitchen was small but perfectly fine for storing food etc. Location was great, just a couple blocks to walk to 5th Ave and not far from the ADO station. Our room was perfect too for three of us - one double bed and one bunk bed, lots of natural light, an ensuite bathroom with hot water and large shower, little balcony through the sliding door, and very clean and secure. Beds were super comfy too! As a hostel, you might not want to stay here as a solo traveler. This was great for us traveling as a small group, but there was usually nobody hanging out in the common areas except for staff or divers. One night there seemed to be a small party, and I saw people playing cards another, but not the most social atmosphere. You could always walk to Che across the street though if you want to meet backpackers and just use Sayab as a home base. We also were there right after spring break ended, so it may have been quiet for that reason too. One other tiny complaint is that on two mornings with two different staff members, they weren't able to call taxis for us which seems like a pretty normal reception task. Overall, I am super happy with my choice of accommodation in Playa though and would come back again.

Everything in Sayab was perfect, friendly staff, cosy and clean common areas, nice people and a lovely swimming pool plus all the little comforts you expect from a hostel, with something more: a lovely swimming pool and a resident team of passionate divers… top level

Estuvimos dos noches en la habitación privada (baño compartido) y no fue la mejor experiencia. La limpieza de la pieza y los baños nada que decir, todo muy limpio e impecable. Respecto al tema de la estancia no fue de lo más agradable, la pieza "privada" no tiene mucho de privada, la puerta es un ventanal que da hacia el área común que está difuminada a la mitad de altura, por lo que si alguien pasa por fuera puede mirar hacia dentro y las cortinas no cubren todo el vidrio. Además, tiene una puerta corrediza hacia el pasillos donde están todo el resto de los dormitorios que no cubre totalmente el espacio y filtra todo el ruido de la gente, y al ser un pasillo hace eco por lo que imposible descansar. Por el otro lado, según lo que leí en los comentarios no se proclaman como un party hostal, pero las dos noches que estuve hubo música EXTREMADAMENTE fuerte hasta las 12 y 1am dónde les digo que es imposible dormir, yo con audífonos seguía escuchando el bajo, puede que no se identifiquen como un "party hostal", pero música a ese nivel definitivamente no es un hostal para poder dormir temprano algún día. El tema es que no termina ahí, dejamos comida en el refrigerador y al día siguiente alguien se la había comido (no depende de ellos, pero te habla un poco de la gente que aloja acá) y además al momento de acostarnos nos encontramos con que la cama está horriblemente hecha e incluso la sábana bajera (la que tiene elásticos y se afirma al colchón) era simplemente otra sabana normal que ni siquiera cubría la cama completa. Por el precio y ambiente no lo recomiendo, les diría que mejor busquen espacio en el che hostal (está en frente) dónde tiene un ambiente mas cool y puede separar fiesta del descanso en los dormitorios. Cómo consejo le diría que especifiquen que hacen fiesta y a ese volumen hasta ciertas horas, no se encuentra en la descripción (solo en un reglamento a la entrada del hostal que ni lo mencionaron, lo busque por mi cuenta) y aunque sea "esporádico" según dicen, uno no espera llegar a descansar y encontrarse con un ruido exagerado al momento de querer dormir, si tienes un tour al día siguiente o algo es de pésimo gusto. Esperamos que lo tomen como una crítica constructiva 😁
