Group of 10 friends stayed as part of visit to Chemin des Dames. Excellent location for this. Very clean and comfortable. It's a basic hotel with a larger than life proprietor who could not do enough to help. Having served our tasty meal and plenty of beer and wine he proceeded to sing and play the piano. Happy memories. Thank you.

Lumpy pillows, no soap at basin, had to ask for another towel & yet booked for 2. But worst of all the so called Restaurant Terroir only offered pizza! So disappointing for a Logis renowned for their positive Restaurant experience.

We stayed at this hotel on a stop over on a long drive and were pleasantly surprised. The staff were lovely on arrival and throughout dinner. Rooms were clean and comfy, ideal for a one night stayover, though noted that we did stay in a heat wave and it was boiling. Dinner is a set menu (no choices, except for pudding), and the food that evening was really lovely and beautifully cooked. The host played the keyboard and sang a couple of songs (which may not be to everyone's taste but as we were only there one night thing it was entertaining) and recommended a violet and champagne cocktail at the end of our meal. Breakfast was simple with bread, pots of spread and jams, coffee, fruit juices and some yoghurts if I remember correctly. Good selection of teas but don't recall seeing English breakfast for any Brits wanting to stay here! We didn't get to use the facilities but they looked good (pool and sauna, and billiard table). One thing was that there was handsoap in the shower instead of shower gel/shampoo, and shampoo sachets on the sink with no soap.

A bizarre experience. We had a room with an extremely steep and dangerous staircase. No handrail and a bannister that was extremely loose. Bed linen was crumpled and dirty. One starter one main and several deserts…..unfortunately the muesli(!) starter was not edible for me whilst the chicken and chips were tasty but very greasy. Wine list was a photo on a phone..however …. The owner entertained us with some bizarre singing at his keyboard and we enjoyed a complimentary violet flavoured glass of champagne. Breakfast was another disappointment - just bread (the few croissants had gone) and the jam pots were empty. This place has a swimming pool, pile of sand described as a beach and other really quirky features but was just terrible at some basic things…sorry would love to have liked you more!!!

Tried to look at the pluses, but failed miserably. Will avoid in future. Logistics de France should drop it immediately. We have had mostly good experiences with LdeF but this failed to match their standards

we chose this hotel based on photographs and having stayed at a Logis before. whilst the building and grounds seem ok the place is very tired, dreadfully maintained and the food awful. the guy running the place seemed ignorant and apathetic. the shower soap was empty, the shower head leaking and spraying water everywhere, 2 old paper cups above the sink, no separate bathroom with the shower in the corner of the bedroom, only one bedside lamp, no extraction in the loo which was basically a cupboard with a toilet. in the adjacent room there was a sofa bed but slats were missing meaning if you sat on it you fell through and to top it off no facility for making tea or coffe in the room. now to the restaurant. we knew we would arrive late so called through to ask if we could get a plate of charcuterie and fromage and bread. then on arrival we were offered the set daily menu which we thought would be a good choice. the pate starter was ok but the main course of beef and rice was inedible and the meat tough, tasteless and obviously been reheated in a microwave. we wanted some wine and despite asking for the wine list nothing came but just an offering of bar drinks. we ordered gin and tonic which came with no ice and flat tonic. so a very poor experience. now to breakfast. no black tea available and had to ask. the croissants had been overcooked and burnt and inedible, I asked for jam and was offered some raspberry jam in a jar with a 2019 use by date which looked anaemic, they then brought a new jar of strawberry jam with a use by date of March 2022. in the fruit bowl there were shrivelled up peaches and other soft fruits which should have removed and thrown out. the experience in the restaurant was frankly horrible and nothing like we had expected. as we were there for 2 nights we found a local Italian restaurant which was very good. we also declined breakfast on our last morning. it was such a shame because we had expected something nice and what we got instead was way below par. reading other reviews subsequently it is evident our experience was not unique. the people there obviously take no pride in the hotel to have it in this state.

1) We were received and checked in at the hotel by two ‘Work Experience’ school children – a girl of about 15 years old and a boy of about 10 years old. There were no adults in the vicinity to supervise or teach them. 2) We were told that though the menu of the day was displayed at the door this was only available at weekends. Weekdays only pizzas were available. I explained that I had an allergy to cows’ cheese and they said that there was a sheep’s cheese pizza. My husband and I sought reassurance that there would be absolutely no cow’s cheese on it which we did not get. There was then and also later no written menu available. We were told that the pizzas were made up in the morning and could not be changed. We asked to speak to an adult and was told that the patron was not there. We were told that he would be in later. There were no other bars, cafes or restaurants in the town or close by. 3) When we tried again later, they told us that they had spoken to the patron on the phone and he could do a goat’s cheese salad for me. I grudgingly agreed but later returned and said that ‘no’ I wasn’t happy with just a salad. We came down again before dinner time and the patron was there but spoke no English so we used our understandable but not perfect French. ( We did live in Montreal for 3 years and passed French exams to ‘O level’ standard). He agreed he could supply a pizza with only sheep’s cheese. 4) When we returned for pre- dinner drinks the patron was in the kitchen and the only waiting staff were the two children again and they were in a busy situation serving alcoholic drinks, taking and serving dinner orders. No adults advising or assisting them or in sight. 5) My husband ordered a pizza supposedly containing four meats of The Aosta Valley. It looked like one type of poor-quality picnic ham. Having walked two weeks in the Aosta Valley, I do not believe it was this speciality ham. 6) I could not have a pudding because they could not assure me that there was not cow’s cheese in any of their puddings. 7) We were the second to last group in the restaurant and just leaving when the patron reappeared to take to his mini stage and sing (out of tune) and play piano, just self-indulgency! 8) We booked and paid for a ‘superior room’. It looked like a low standard motel room. There was no information about facilities given at check in nor written information in the room about anything at all. We didn’t discover about the use of pool or the spa until it was too late. The room had lots of dead flies on the windowsill, the toilet roll holder had an empty cardboard inner tube on it, the shower soap holder was empty and there was no bath mat. There was no way to shut the shower door properly and water poured all over the floor. The window to our room opened onto the noisy courtyard so it was difficult to settle to sleep. 9) I would advise anyone staying and eating at the hotel to check their bill carefully as we did and found that we were both being charged

Very damp, looks like the whole place is a junk yard For 190€ worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Arrived and no one was there. Complete disappointment Restaurant- food was horrible, more like school food. Breakfast was stewed coffee and only croissant left. Rusty doors and staff.
