Appartement hotel , ruim appartement sober ingericht , schoon , badkamer toe aan renoveren , in bad douchen met oud douchegordijn. Bed smal en niet echt comfortabel. Ontbijt goed maar elke dag hetzelfde om te kiezen . . Prima locatie dichtbij supermarktje restaurants en het strand.

We stayed at Club Amarilis for a week over Christmas 2024. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you have time it's worth meeting the Brazilian man who is on reception for the night shift. He is very likeable and knowledgeable. Unfortunately we only met him on the morning we were leaving when we had to be ready for the coach transfer by 06.50. The apartment, on the 5th floor, was not the horror story that some people have described. The sitting room was large and comfortable, the kitchen was good and the bedroom was good. The bathroom was in need of renovation but for the price the apartment was good value. It was noisy on a couple of nights because of noisy motor bikes driving around the area but Club Amarilis can't be blamed for that. The other facilities are very good, i.e. the gm, indoor pool and outdoor pool. The cafe supplied a good breakfast. It's a five minute walk (two if you're quick) to the beach and to a bus stop where you can get a bus into Portimao, although you can walk into Portimao and to Ferragudo. We're in our seventies and we walked to both and back . Ferragudo is lovely. What we saw of Silves, another town publicised as a tourist attraction, was not impressive. The river looked like a sewage outlet and the Moorish fort/palace was not as interesting as many historical sites in the UK. I would recommend the Pinocchio restaurant for very good Italian meals.

Pleasant reception staff. Great location. Very close to the beach and you can try to see the sunset every evening. Very clean room. We were lucky to be in one where fireworks could be seen on New Year’s Eve. A bonus indeed. The library wasn’t well stocked but it depends on guests who leave books behind.

Visited Club Amarillis for a week over the New Year with the family. Lovely hotel in a great location. 2 mins to the nearest supermarket & less than 5 mins walk to the start of the ‘*****’ where the restaurants & bars begin. Rooms cleaned/towels changed every day. Outside pool very cold, but that’s standard in Portugal, especially at this time of the year. There’s a gym/indoor pool (heated) in the hotel, €10 per adult & €5 per child for 2 hours use. Didn’t eat in the hotel so can’t comment. The electrics in the apartment can get overloaded causing them to trip, even by using 2 rings on the hob, or the kettle along with the heater, so have a look for the reset button when you arrive cause there’s a fair chance you’ll need it! All in all, a great hotel for the price we paid. Probably won’t return to the resort of Praia da Rocha as it’s a bit rough around the edges with some rude unfriendly locals, but that’s not the hotels fault. We spent most of our time in Alvor & Lagos because of this. If you want to go to Praia da Rocha, certainly give this place a go

First time in Portugal and this was a great area to stay. Beautiful sandy beach, water was warm enough to swim in mid-October. Shops and restaurants are within 5-7 minutes walk from the hotel where you can find a lot of different souvenirs. If you continue walking for about 30 minutes, you will get to the light house and marina. I recommend visiting Fish museum and 3D Art museum, if you are with children. We have arranged Zoomarine and speed boat trip to caves via the hotel and it was reasonably priced. However, at the marina you can find many kiosks offering different tours and packages including pick up from the hotel. Zoomarine is fantastic and there is a lot to do even if you don't get to swim, We did not like the hotel, because it is not the best option for families with children: there was no entertainment. At the pool it was boring and the water was freezing. Pool is deep, but there is a small pool for younger children. Indoor pool belongs to the gym and costs extra, so we have not used it. Rooms are large and cleaned daily. Receptionists are very friendly. There is a luggage room and the safe in the room. There are 4 lifts, but probably get busy during the season. The food was not the best - try to eat if you can; glad we did not go for all inclusive. There are many decent places to eat around. Location: 5 stars Hotel and restaurant: 2 stars
