The history, charm and very convenient location of Blind Tiger makes this the ideal place to stay. Love the Baxter room with its luxurious bed, large fireplace/mantle and unique bathroom/big shower. Enjoy some great food during your stay at the Danforth Street location! If you love sushi, go to Yosaku only 0.5 miles away at 1 Danforth Street. Enjoy some amazing coffee and desserts at Yuri’s at 3 spring Street, a little over a 10 min walk from the guest house. Scales is a personal favorite but you may have to make a reservation well in advance of your trip. If the weather is nice, Fort Williams Park/Portland Head Light is less than 5 miles away at Cape Elizabeth. It was raining all day when I went out there with my daughter but it was still awesome. Gorgeous photo opps. In summary, stay at the Blind Tiger. It’s absolutely lovely and every one you come in contact with here is totally committed to making your stay perfect. ❤️

My oldest daughter is getting married in September 2025, and she wanted to have her bachelorette party in Portland in July. She’s got a big group of friends and thought it would be awesome if they could all stay together in one house. After a little research, we came across the Blind Tiger House on Danforth Street. It looked like the right size and location, but with a 50% nonrefundable deposit required upfront, we didn’t want to commit without checking it out first. So, we decided to book a stay to see for ourselves—and wow, it did not disappoint! The Blind Tiger exceeded our expectations in every way. It’s the perfect spot for a gathering with friends or family, and also an amazing choice for a romantic getaway. I absolutely loved the real working fireplaces in the common areas and some of the bedrooms, and we were thrilled to have one in our room! The Billiards room was such a fun bonus—it has this cool speakeasy vibe, or maybe even that chill basement hangout feel from the ‘70s/‘80s. The staff was fantastic too—friendly, helpful, and more than happy to show us around, answer our questions, and even recommend great spots to eat and grab a drink. We stayed in the Bon Viveur room, which was beautifully set up. The king bed was super comfy, and we made good use of the fireplace to stay extra cozy. The Blind Tiger also has all these thoughtful little extras that make it stand out—like eucalyptus shower steamers, a pantry stocked with complimentary snacks and sodas, plus books and games for guests to enjoy. Needless to say, we can’t wait to come back!

My girlfriend and I have been to Portland many times but have never stayed at the Blind Tiger -Danforth. We’ll never stay anywhere else. Charming, beautiful, stylish, cozy, delightful and welcoming. We were there on a February weekend. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Meg, who gave us a short tour and showed us to our beautiful, large room. A word about Meg - she was wonderful. She gave us some great recommendations for local spots and whenever we saw her in the sitting rooms or on our way out or in, she greeted us with a smile and curiosity about our day. She helped us navigate the pantry and always started a fire when we sat in one of the living rooms to read and relax. She was a big part of why our experience was extraordinary. We met her colleague on Sunday and she was equally delightful. A word about our room - large space with a beautiful bed set if an arc of windows. A working fireplace with a comfy couch. We used the fireplace whenever we were in the room. The bathroom was large and has a great shower. The incredible craftsmanship of this early 1800s mansion is on display in every detail in the room combined with a modern decorative style. The housekeeper, Chiho, kept our room immaculate. It was a joy to come back to our room and have it truly perfect. And she left beautiful little origami at each visit that she makes herself. The lobby/common areas on the first floor and the billiards room are some of the coziest places I’ve been in any hotel. The bottom line is you should stay here.

The Blind Tiger at Danforth was a wonderful experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted in a very welcoming manner. The tour of the property was great, and the pantry was a highlight. Our room, the Vandercook, was cozy and the fireplace made for warm comfortable evenings. Also, breakfast in the morning was delicious! Beautiful touches, like the coffee cups, tea pots and the luxurious blankets gave it a very special feel to our stay. The staff at the hotel were very attentive, we definitely look forward to our return.

Great property. Enjoyed all the snacks and non-alcoholic drinks from the pantry. Used the Peloton located in the basement, an old Speakeasy. The continental breakfast was fine. Toast, fruits, oatmeal, etc. Good location. Walked to the Old Port for dinner.

Such a gorgeous place to stay! We were able to walk to so many places around town. The staff was beyond friendly and accommodating and the common areas were so well quipped. We stayed in the Baxter suite and loved how spacious it was. Will definitely plan to stay here again!

Such a chic little spot for the last few evenings of our honeymoon! We loved that it was a little off-the-beaten path, but still close enough to walk to the heart of Old Port. The decor was very chic, the rooms were well-appointed, and the complimentary snacks and breakfast were so tasty!!

We had a very fine and quiet stay at this really unconventional, but nice, 200 years old-guesthouse. Decoration throughout the building and the general atmosphere gave us a rather joyful feeling. We had chosen the 3rd floor Diavolo room: very colorful and a large bathroom. Apart of the room, many other spaces available including of course dining room, kitchen with open pantry and lounge, but also a billiard room in the basement and a look-out cupola on top of the roof. Very fine and healthy breakfast buffet available and personnel was very helpful. Tips for new guests: parking space is available in Winter Street, where also the entry to the guesthouse is located (and not in Danforth Street, as we originally assumed). Tip for the owners: please check the electricity wiring in the attic…
