Holiday Inn Express Porto – Boavista

We spent 4 nights at this hotel and I would say everything was perfect except the location being far from most tourist attractions. We had a quiet room at the end of the corridor and far from the elevators which was what we requested. The room was quite small but the space was well thought out and there was a huge window looking over train tracks (the metro). The noise from the metro did not bother us though since the windows were well insulated. Check in was quick and efficient and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was included and there were always several bread and bakery items along with scrambled eggs, some sausage or meat options (I don’t eat those), a variety of cheeses and yogurt, cereal, fruit salad and fresh fruit, along with a modern coffee machine where one could get a cappuccino, espresso, hot chocolate etc. On the premises there is a restaurant called Roast which we did not try. We booked this hotel since we wanted to be within walking distance of the Kadoorie Makor Haim synagogue (14 minute walk). The hotel is close to metro stations and a 15 minute walk from Casa Da Musica and several shopping centres. There is also Mercadona supermarket a 7 minute walk away. The hotel has a parking lot as well. I would recommend this hotel for people coming to Porto who don’t mind commuting to the historical centre. We used ubers and the fare was always between 4-6 euros.
Holiday Inn Express Porto City Centre

I moved to this property after staying two nights at the much more highly rated (not my opinion), Hilton Se Cathedral (review posted) and am so glad I did. For 165 euros, 81 euros less than the Hilton, I had a fabulous experience. This property is on a quiet street in the city centre. There is very little car traffic because the street is closed to traffic in the next block. My room was comfortable with a nice bed, walk in shower and TV with many channels in English. I am Platinum Elite with IHG and was fortunate to have a top floor room with a balcony that was as large my room and had stunning views of Porto. I slept with the balcony door open both nights and it was amazingly quiet. The staff was fine and allowed me an early checkin. Restaurants, and stores abound and is not quite as touristy as by the water about .05 mile away . Metro two blocks away easy to get to Campahana Train Station. Breakfast was more than adequate with many choices. Hot dishes were limited to eggs and bacon. One dining recommendation, also about .04 mile away, Dana Pe, De Cobra. So good I ate there twice. (See my TA reviews) Cheers! Marius
