Piccolo Hotel - Adults Only

We recently spent a lovely week at the adult only Piccolo Hotel, Porto Ottiolu, Sardinia. We booked the 'Full Board Plus' option through Jet2, which in addition to buffet style breakfast, lunch, and dinner, also included a limited range of drinks and ice-cream. Our room was a good size, although that may have been because we were given a triple (Room 107) rather than the double that we had booked. As with most hotels, it would benefit from more clothes hangers and drawer space. The safe was not ideal, as it was too small to take a camera case. The rooms were generally clean, but they clearly don't clean under the beds on a regular basis, as there was a lot of hair and dust under ours. There was plenty of food available, most of which was labelled, including allergy information, but being a pescatarian (i.e. vegetarian plus seafood), I constantly had to ask if it was 'vegetariano'. Surely, a vegetarian/vegan icon could have been added next to the allergy information. I had the plain omelette a couple of times until the chef apparently couldn't resist adding some ham to it on one morning. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the marina, but apart from a few bars, there's not a lot to see and do. The hotel provides a minibus service to a couple of local beaches where it also provides access to sunbeds and umbrellas. All the staff are excellent and very welcoming, but four deserve a special mention: Antonella, Floriano, Alessia & Greta. But for the minor potential improvements mentioned above, I'd have happily given the Piccolo hotel a five star rating.

The Picollo Hotel is in a lovely location within a 5/10 minute walk to the quaint, pretty harbour and beach. It is not in Budoni but 15 ins away on the bus. San Teodore is close by and a lovely village to visit especially on a Friday which is market day. It has a modern feel with very lovely staff. Our room was a standard one which had a broken toilet upon arrival and the air conditioning unit was leaking water and the wall was a little mouldy and the paint was peeling from the wall. This was looked at and the toilet seat resolved. Very obliging. If you don't mind full board plus it will be ok but we had originally booked B&B and was upgraded later on by Jet 2. This was ok for breakfast but the lunch and evening meals were very similar and always served cold. I had to reheat food in the microwave provided. It was good for drinks though although restrictive. We ate at the harbour most days. The pool area is beautiful and has a lifeguard attending daily. It is very clean and the the pool is clear and inviting. A huge shout out goes to the entertainment team. Flo, Antanella and the fitness instructor were great. (Aqua aerobics in the pool and yoga up on the roof top was a regular thing. Antanella has a beautiful voice and sings most evenings in the piano bar and Flo goes around daily to speak to all of the guests to get to know them which is a lovely personal touch. The entertainment of an evening was good and gave you the chance to get to know everyone as its a small hotel which is great. Flo takes daily hikes with guests so you get to see the area and private beaches. They are a true asset to the hotel. The young man on reception and Fransisco were happy to help but the trips and shuttle to the beach gets booked up very quickly but lots of trips going from the harbour and through Jet 2. The Picollo Hotel is ideal if you want a relaxing and quiet break, adults only which is lovely and a nice place to stay to experience beautiful Sardinia.

The perfect getaway from start to finish. Wonderful tranquil location, nestled into the hills, just a 10 minute walk to the pretty marina and nearby beaches. Daily free shuttle buses take you to the beaches if you prefer, which is handy. Whether you're lazing by the pool or on the beach, there was never any issue getting a sunbed at any time. My room was perfect, and had everything you could need, including wall USB charger points next to the bed. Nice touch! The room was kept immaculately clean and made for a lovely sanctuary at the end of a perfect day. The food served throughout the day was incredible, particularly the traditional Sardinian food. Couldn't fault it. The restaurant staff were always extremely kind and attentive. As a small hotel, it made for a very low key and intimate environment. It allowed guests and staff the chance to get acquainted, making everyone feel welcome and included, and a friendly, relaxing atmosphere in which to unwind. There were opportunities for local excursions, and optional activities at the hotel available from morning to evening, such as local treks, yoga, aqua gym, while the piano bar live music created a perfect setting for pre-dinner drinks. Evening entertainment was incredible too, with everyone made welcome to join in the lighthearted fun. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Thank you to all the wonderful staff - including but not limited to Francesco, Antonella, Floriano, Greta, Aurora, Gianluca and Enrico - and guests during the last week of July 2024 (you know who you are!) who made me feel so very welcome, and who have given me such beautiful memories to last a lifetime.

The Piccolo hotel is a lovely small hotel which gives it a family vibe . There was a mix of nationalities staying there but language was no barrier. Flo and Antonella provided the entertainment every night which was a lot of fun . They are both very natural hosts . Flo is hilarious and both very friendly. We went with our 2 children 18 & 20 years old . They had lots of fun especially during the evening . The weather was too hot to do much exploring but there were trips available. The harbour was 10 walk away and the sandy beach another 5 mins . If you turn left at the harbour there are rocky/ stoney coves which was much quieter than the beach. Flo will show you the sights on a short morning walk . There is so much choice for food , it was delicious too . The service was outstanding. The three waitresses from Vietnam were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us ! They appreciated us learning thank you in Vietnamese! There was plenty of room round the pool , no fighting for sun beds . In all a very relaxing, safe and fun holiday .

This was an amazing small friendly hotel, it had everything you could possibly need for a wonderful time visiting Sardinia. Transfer to hotel from Olbia airport only around 20mins. Such an incredible amount of gorgeous Italian food, buffet style, served by such friendly and helpful staff, a special mention goes to Rocco. Rooms are cleaned daily and have everything you would need. No tea and coffee in room but it was easily accessible via the bar all day. Pool gorgeous and always loads of beds to choose from. A very special mention must go to the Entertainment manager Flo, he went round to every guest to ensure they were aware and involved in all activities, if they wanted too, which then made this a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy your holiday. Antonella made the place come alive in the evenings with her gorgeous voice and together with Flo, organised many great activities, of course with Harry too! Overall the staff were all exceptional and really made our stay amazing.

Had a fantastic week, facilities brilliant, lovely clean pool, bar, rooms. Very friendly and attentive service. Great entertainment. Buffet food was one of the best we've ever eating, with real Italian dishes (with no pizza!!), as an Italian that is saying something. Special thanks to Greta and Antonio at the bar, for service with a smile, Antonella and Floriano for entertainment and company, Patrizia in reception for helpfulness. We're hoping to go back one day.
