Disappointing Stay – Not a Four-Star Experience I recently stayed at the Royal Court Hotel, Prague, and I would not recommend it. While the location is convenient—close to I.P. Pavlova station for buses, trams, and the underground—there was little else to praise. The hotel claims to be four-star, but it falls far below that standard. Our standard room was so small we couldn’t even open a suitcase on the floor. The room safe was broken, and when we asked for it to be fixed, we were told it wouldn’t be until the next day, leaving our valuables unsecured. The bed was nothing more than a mattress on, a piece of wood then on top of four wooden blocks, shifting every time someone moved. Cleanliness was also an issue. We found chewing gum stuck to the wall behind the door, the shower leaked, and the inside door lock was either broken or loose, causing it to rattle constantly. The staff were unhelpful when we requested a new room. They didn’t even check availability and instead tried to placate us with a bottle of wine, which we don’t drink. We reluctantly paid €30 to upgrade, but the new room was barely better—the same bed issues and a horrible sewage smell that lasted all evening, forcing us to keep the extractor fan running all day. Would I recommend this hotel? Absolutely not. It was far from a four-star experience, and the service was unimpressive. Would I recommend Prague? Absolutely, yes. It is a stunning city with excellent public transport, making it easy to explore—just choose a different hotel.
