This hotel completely failed us. What was supposed to be a relaxing, carefully planned birthday trip turned into a stressful, disorganized mess — entirely due to the way Silken Saaj Maar handled our arrival and the days that followed. We arrived at the hotel late at night on May 31st, around 23:15, after a full day of travel. I had booked and prepaid a room via Secret Escapes, and we showed our confirmation email upon arrival. Despite this, the receptionist insisted there was no booking in our name. No effort was made to check emails, no phone calls, no apologies — just a cold “not our problem” attitude and a suggestion to call the booking provider ourselves. This was past 11 PM, on a saturday night. There was no way to reach anyone at that hour. We were told the hotel was fully booked, but that we could pay for a standard room if we wanted to stay. Left with no other options, we paid again — this time for a room that was nothing like what we booked. That “standard” room was, frankly, unacceptable. It had no door separating the toilet/bathroom from the bed — just an open space. The only window was inside the shower stall and faced an inner shaft with views of other people’s bathrooms. No daylight, no privacy. The air conditioning didn’t work. The bed was narrow and uncomfortable. We barely slept and felt like we were in a basement. This is not what you expect from a hotel advertising itself as stylish and modern — it felt more like a bad budget hostel. Instead of toasting to my birthday at midnight, I was sitting on the bed in tears, unsure if we’d be forced to spend the rest of the trip finding new accommodation. That night, we also had to cancel an excursion we had booked, not knowing what would happen the next day. It was a terrible start to a trip that had taken weeks of planning — especially difficult for me as someone who is autistic and relies heavily on preparation and routine. The next afternoon — after we went back to the reception ourselves — a different staff member had checked their emails and saw that yes, our booking had been there all along. He admitted the mistake, refunded the wrongly charged night, and upgraded us to the correct room which was going to be available later in the day. He was kind, professional, and helpful — the one bright spot in a sea of poor service. He told us that guest relations would follow up with us on June 2nd to address the situation. That did not happen. Meanwhile, on June 1st, we booked a spa treatment package (€270) for June 2nd. We paid immediately, assuming it included access to the spa as most packages do. While out on a tour, we received a WhatsApp message from the spa asking if we could move our appointment time. We agreed without reading it too carefully. Later, on June 3rd — after we had to follow up ourselves yet again — we finally realized that the spa claimed those two hours of spa access were a “gift” to make up for the room error. This was never explained clearly, and certainly

We stayed here 6 nights over the 2024 Christmas period, we booked a deluxe sea view room dinner, bed and breakfast. After finding the intercom to access the building (it's on the left hand side when facing the doors) we arrived at the reception on floor 5, with a lovely view of the sea in a very Pleasent reception area. Check in took a little longer because of the new Spanish law of having to provide everything but your kitchen sink to the hotel, all done very professionally and politely. We were given a room on the side of the hotel, small balcony with a table and 2 chairs facing the shoe shop and the sea, to be fair, this room suited us as we could see people walking down to San Telmo and it was away from any noise at the immediate front. The room was spacious and clean with adequate storage for 2 people, comfortable bed, good tv, Tea & coffee, and a huge rainfall shower, plenty of hot water. At each side of the bed is an interactive set of buttons used for different lighting, temperature of the room and if you need maid service that day. All very modern. The bathroom has some floor lights, so as you walk into the room at night you can see the toilet and the floor, very good idea. Plenty of sockets but no USB sockets. All in all a very good room with a nice view of the sea. The corridors are great, very modern with a sort of lava type material on the walls and nice wallpaper, motion lighting too, very nice. FOOD. Breakfast was generally good, plenty of choice but we did not enjoy the bacon or the sausages, not an issue with the food or the hotel just our tastes. There was fruit, yoghurt and all of the expected things for breakfast, good coffee from the 2 machines too, all in all good, however, and this was the same for the evening meal the food could have been hotter, the food is kept hot enough but unfortunately the plates are clay cold, so by the time you pick your choice and get back to your table the food is luke warm at best, the hotel needs to either invest in a plate warmer or get a better one (I do not recall seeing one). Dinner, let's start by saying the food was very tasty, could have a better choice of main meal but as stated all very tasty and nice. Service with a smile and some very good waitresses and waiters, all without exception friendly and diligent at what they do, again plenty of choice of salads and other things, the desserts are small but fine, so all in all good value and tasty, go for the house wine, it was nice and only 12 Euro a bottle, bargain for a hotel of this standard. The actual breakfast/dining room is spacious and has fantastic lights which change colour, good view of the sea and walkways to add to the ambiance. Roof top bar area, this is a well thought out bit of sunny space, plenty of comfortable sunbeds or use the stepped area with cushions provided, tables and chairs and a fully stocked bar, cheap too for a 4-star hotel, food is available, and it was once again very tasty. This area is for exclusive use

This is our second visit to this hotel and we were greeted like long lost friends, the Receptionist even remembered that is was our anniversary, hence the reason for the holiday celebration, the hotel has had a slight face lift, rooms are clean, beds comfortable and the weather is wonderful of course. All the staff are pleasant and willing to help even with supplying an extra 20 hangars 🤭🤭 on arrival Sea views from our room plus the sun beaming in in the morning, a far cry from the U.K.

Christmas 2024 - This review concerns the BRAND NEW refurbished Silken Maar hotel. Tripadvisor needs to update its photo. DO NOT BOOK A STANDARD ROOM. They face inwards to walls & other rooms. NO daylight or sunlight at all. No view of anything other than a corridor or a wall = dark and depressing. Some are VERY small w/ 140cm double beds. Some have NO WINDOWS other than a small opening behind shower or in bathroom. Some have NO table or chair to sit or work. The ONLY rooms to book are the SEAVIEW rooms, and even some of these are on the side, with a small angled view of the sea. The ones on the front are NICE, but it is impossible to know what you will get. That a hotel has different quality and different sized rooms is perfectly understandable. That these are not DIFFERENTIATED AT ALL when booking is a recipe for disaster when managing customer's expectations. We booked 3 standard rooms for 10 days : One nice enough room (309A) with huge king sized bed (180 cms) , table, chair, loo and decent sized shower. 2 windows, one looks onto a corridor, one onto a tiny interior light shaft and other rooms. No daylight. Another SMALL room with a tiny bed (maybe 140cms) a window looking onto a internal corridor and light shaft (no real daylight). An even smaller room again with tiny bed. This room was TOTALLY windowless, in as much as it had a tiny window that opened from the back of the shower around the corner from the room. The toilet was on the way to the shower, no door, no privacy, quite bizarre. We complained, and after 4 nights, were given a new room with more space and bigger bed (214) but still with windows onto internal corridors. After 10 days we were totally depressed without light. It rained for days and there is NOWHERE to go in the hotel other than the roof terrace (which only opens at 10am).... where it was freezing with rainwater leaking through. The only other communal area is the dining room, so unless you're eating breakfast or dinner here you can't go here. BOOKING option should be more transparent: for example there should be several categories such as : 1 Small Doubles with internal facing windows (small beds) 2 Standard doubles/twins with internal facing windows (2 adjoining beds) 3 Superior Doubles with internal facing windows (huge bed) 4 SeaView room (side view) 5 SeaView Room (facing sea) Delux premiium rooms (there are 4 corner rooms which look lovely) If prices were different for these VERY different quaility rooms, and the descriptions more honest, then I think that they would better manage customer expectations. As it is, as you can see from MOST of the recent reviews, the majority of customers (who don't get the seafront rooms) are VERY angry, disappointed and feel misled. It is not OK to respond (as the hotel is doing ) 'Oh, you didn't book a Seaview room, therefore you can't complain! If i don't book a SEAview room, I expect a Mountain, Garden, City, Street view. I do NOT expect NO view, NO sunlight, or worse View of

I called into the hotel today to have a look re my family coming over to stay in Feb 25. Beautiful hotel in terms of style design etc. Reception staff disinterested & rather unpleasant. Bordering on rude. (Blanca) That said I experienced Lovely housekeeping & Spa Staff when looking around. Alison in the Spa, well done. You are a true five star host. You should be on Hotel Reception :) An ambassador for the hotel. I am sure in time things will improve with training. However not today and certainly not when you come into see a new hotel and attempt to book a suite for 9nights. Disappointing. That said I wish the hotel well.

AC not working. Informed it could take 3-5 days to repair. However, AC not repaired as promised – extremely disappointing given the time frame. Door to balcony is far too heavy - hard to open and close. Also being only on 2 small hinges in my view is dangerous. It is very odd to have a heavy air gap double glazed door but the rest of the windows appear to have no air gap double glazing. These windows do not cut out external noise sufficiently and street artists and sellers etc can easily be heard in the room. The curtains and nets need rods to assist in closure; and the curtain tracks need to be better quality as they are too stiff. The bathroom blind is completely see-through at night with the light on. We were only able to use the bath and shower during the day. Balcony privacy is also an issue. There are no USB sockets. Not good for a recently refurbished 4 star contemporary hotel. The washbasin behind the bed whilst contemporary is not practical as it is separated from the toilet. Mini-bar but no option to fill it that we were aware of. Thus, there is no mini-bar as advertised; there is just a fridge. No room service that we were aware of. The roof pool is very small and shallow. I feel the hotel needs to be a little more upfront about this rather than just advertising roof top pool. There were no daytime activities program other than a morning yoga class; and no evening entertainment. The gym and pool need to open earlier than 10am as most active guests will want to work-out or swim before breakfast. Clearly lots of snagging work still going on. Good things:- Adults only Room to Room sound insulation seems good. No extra charge for in room safe No extra charge for Wi-Fi Tea & Coffee in room (albeit not replaced adequately). Magnifying mirror is a nice touch Bathroom light sensors Room doesn’t require key card for power. The views are amazing. We would be happy to stay again if the AC is fixed, the bathroom blind replaced and of course if the price is competitive.

Currently staying at the Silken hotel and I must say, it exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a warm welcome drink and the staff made me feel right at home. The view from my room is absolutely stunning and has made my stay even more enjoyable. The only drawback so far very minor may I add that I can think of is that I had to ask for robes in the suite, but the staff was very prompt in delivering them to me. Overall, I would give this hotel a 5 out of 5 rating. I am pleasantly surprised by the level of service and the overall experience. I highly recommend staying at the Silken hotel if you are looking for a luxurious and comfortable stay.

The hotel has reopened after recent refurbishment. We believe are the first to stay in our hotel room. It has a fantastic view from the room and is beautifully decorated. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. There are a few things that could be tweaked but all in all, a very nice hotel in a fantastic location.
