We spend two nights in this beautiful location by playa Carrizalillo. The rooms are surrounded by vegetation and gives you the feeling to be in the jungle. Two cats and tropical birds live here too. Location is very convenient, right by the access to playa Carrizalillo and the main street with restaurants (we recommend El Cafecito, fast and competitive prices). Rooms are not too big but it was more than enough for us. They have a fan and airco, as well as a refrigerator. Beds are comfortable and king size. The hosts were very warm with us, giving us tips on the beaches we should visit, and arranged a taxi for our way on the airport for 130$, which would have been impossible of stopping a taxi on the street. Breakfast are not included but are good; locals stop by prior to heading to the beach.

Positive - The bungalow is located in a beautiful garden setting. Esthetically very pleasing. The location is great, about as close as you can get to Playa Manzanillo and right close up to the shopping and restaurants on the main drag in Rinconada. The room was adequately cleaned every day. Negative - 'll put it this way: We were paying a 4 star hotel price for what was at best a "quirky" Airbnb or higher end room at an eccentric hostel. The bungalow had maintenance issues. The mini fridge desperately needed defrosting, you couldn't use the freezer. If their goal is "pretty", that just looks bad. Moving to the bathroom, the shower head wasn't working properly and spraying water all over the place. I asked the maintenance guy and he fixed it, in fairness. Kitchen is outside, that's not a problem. The mini stove is operated with gas, we're not used to that and had to be shown how, The stove eventually stopped working. No microwave-in this day and age, a hotel kitchenette with no microwave? They're cheap, even in Mexico. Again, we paid a lot of money, we're not talking about camping fees here. Management was difficult to deal with and ineffectual. Every one of the above issues we brought to management was met with a long discussion and excuses. I speak Spanish, so it wasn't like we weren't understanding each other. The process for defrosting the fridge was so unnecessarily complicated that we gave up on that one. We were issued one large kitchen knife. We asked for a smaller paring knife and the answer was nope, one knife only. Then that knife was so rusted that it fell apart in our hands. We asked a different person, the maintenance guy for a new one and he got us one right away. He was actually reasonable to deal with. The first night watchman was weird and made my wife uncomfortable. One morning, he was operating the leaf blower at 6 am. We complained to the proprietor about him, she looked at us like we were the problem. We were admonished for running air con and fans in 32 degrees Celsius heat. Criticize us? For what we paid? Fix your problems first before you admonish your guests. When we booked, there was a no refunds policy. We had to pay the full amount of our stay when we walked in the door.

Beautiful and quiet rooms, comfy bed, heavenly garden with lots of exotic plants, scrumptious breakfasts and very friendly service. Centrally located with 5-7 min walking distance from the beach and restaurant area. Exceed my expectations in everything. Enjoyed my stay there very much.

We spent 5 nights at Villa Mozart and Macondo and loved it. The tropical garden is beautiful and provides a feeling of tranquility as you wander around the lush green vegetation and feel like the only person there. Our room was very clean and the staff are lovely - always smiling and helpful. The breakfasts are also very tasty. It's a quiet location but very close to many little shops, bars and restaurants as well as a short walk to the gorgeous Carrizilillo beach. Definitely recommend a stay here.

My friend and I stayed in the Bungalow Cocina at Villa Mozart y Macondo for two nights. It was a delightful place to stay! A pathway through lush tropical plants led to the doorway to our bungalow. The air-conditioned room was spacious and filled with beautiful and unique pieces of art. A small kitchenette was outside on the front porch. A peaceful, quiet and comfortable place to stay, located conveniently to the restaurants and shops along the main street in the Rinconada neighborhood. Also very close to the beach. Highly recommended!

Hotel admin really useless. We booked two months ahead, got a reservation email with confirmation and no additional information, and when we showed up there was no room for us. Hotel apparently expects deposit, which is not a problem, but never asked for it and never prompted payment. Also no help on arrival whatsoever.

Mozart y Macondo is a very comfortable villa. The gardens, sculptures, paintings, photographs and other objects of art are displayed in abundance. The rooms are comfortable and easy to enjoy. Breakfast is on site and delicious. No street noise, minimum of concrete and paving. Maximum of art and plants, plus two parrots. Every beautiful hotel needs to be operated by people who honestly care about their clients. Angelica, the owner, certainly cares. She was on site each day we were there. She instills the same joy in her people who help her with Mozart y Macondo. Roberto and Delphine were both very cheerful and experienced. I wish I knew each person’s name, they are all great. Smiling and friendly every day. We will be returning to Mozart y Macondo in two days to enjoy once again before leaving for Guadalajara. A highly recommended hotel in Puerto Escondido.
