Astoria Palawan

Astoria was a 1.5-hour drive away from PPS airport. We took the hotel shuttle to and from the airport, and it costed us only 200 per way (the original fare was 250 but we got 20% discount since we were students) which is cheaper than the one offered by private vans at the airport. Upon arriving at Astoria, we were greeted by their welcoming staff with complimentary drinks and locally made necklace. The staff assigned to us gave us a quick tour of the place, and we loved how clean and well-maintained the facilities are. If there’s one thing that guests should know before visiting, it’s that to expect that Astoria sales staff would try to sell you their membership packages. But don’t worry, you can politely decline and Astoria’s sales staff would be very understanding. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Astoria and we will definitely come back!

Here’s a detailed breakdown of why we loved our time at this wonderful resort: 1. Smooth Airport Pickup: We were greeted right at the airport with a seamless transfer to the resort. The pick-up was quick, efficient, and stress-free, making the start of our vacation that much easier. 2. Warm Welcome: Upon arriving at the resort, the staff greeted us with such warmth and hospitality. The welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home, and the smiles from the team made a lasting impression. 3. Early Check-in: Since we were traveling with a 1-year-old, we were really grateful when the resort allowed us to check in early, around 9 am. It was such a thoughtful gesture, as it gave us time to settle in and rest after the flight. 4. Amazing Breakfast & Accommodating Staff: The breakfast spread was a highlight of every morning. The food was not only delicious, but the staff was incredibly accommodating to our dietary preferences. We are vegetarian, and they made sure to provide a variety of options that catered to our needs—thank you so much for that! 5. Outstanding Service by Folyca: A special shoutout to Folyca, the receptionist, who went above and beyond to help us with any questions and needs we had during our stay. Her professionalism and helpful attitude made a huge difference in our experience. 6. Spacious & Beautiful Room: Our room was perfect! It was spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The cleanliness and attention to detail were top-notch, and it truly felt like a luxury escape. 7. Incredible Amenities: The resort offers so many fantastic amenities! We had the choice of three swimming pools, including a stunning infinity pool that overlooks the gorgeous views. The water park was a big hit with our son, who had an absolute blast. There’s also a massage center, which was wonderfully relaxing, and a lovely canopy area for tour inquiries and bookings. Whether you’re into golf, relaxing by the beach, or enjoying a delicious dinner by the water, there’s something for everyone here. 8. Dinner with Fire Dance: Dining at the resort’s beachfront restaurant was a magical experience. Not only did we enjoy fantastic meals, but we were also treated to a mesmerizing fire dance performance as we dined. It added such a special touch to the evening. 9. Fantastic Staff: Throughout our stay, the staff went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. Kent, Arvin, and Susan, especially, were always so humble, kind, and smiling, even when we had late-night requests for dinner or drinks. Their hospitality truly made us feel like family. 10. Overall Experience: We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation. The resort’s incredible service, beautiful facilities, and welcoming staff made this one of the best trips we’ve ever had. We left with full hearts and unforgettable memories, and it’s all thanks to Astoria Resort Palawan. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a serene and luxury escape in Palawan! Pros: 1. Great amenities 2. Friendly staff 3. Clean enough Cons: 1. Foods are expensive, nothing special. I mean you can cook at your home with the same quality. 2. Checking-in is way too hassle. You got to write the names of all guests yourself and sign a waiver for some equipment or facility that you may not use or access. What is the use of their computer? 3. You want to go to a resort to relax, but some questions of the staff are too personal like, are you all family, who’s celebrating what and questions seem like to gossip around. I will appreciate some questions like, “how was your trip or you need any help?”. 4. You have to ask by yourself, like you need to book a restaurant for your dinner if you didn’t take a buffet dinner. You booked a room for four persons but the kits are only for two. You can ask for another bottle of water but need to follow up. 5. Being inconsiderate, we have seniors and they gave us 2nd floor and the farthest rooms from the stairs. And when we came to restaurant for dinner, we were asked to go back by 8:30pm because they cannot accommodate (I just hope we were told to book in advance). I feel sorry for my elders. 6. The toilets are see through. Lovers friendly, but not for a family. 7. Last but not the least, the Waterpark pool has frog relaxing too.

We had a pleasant stay at Astoria. Everything went smoothly, and we appreciated the comfort and service during our visit. However, one thing left us disappointed. We booked two rooms, and when we requested just a one-hour late checkout, we were told it was not possible unless we paid an additional ₱1,000. For a guest who booked multiple rooms, a small consideration like an hour’s extension would have been a nice gesture of hospitality. While our overall experience was good, this policy left us feeling a bit let down.
