The small shop is surrounded by picturesque scenery, which is very enjoyable. The included dinner and breakfast are also quite exquisite and delicious, which is highly recommended. If I have the opportunity to go to Mt cook again, it will still be my first choice.

Just brilliant! Lakestone Lodge is exactly half way between Queenstown & Christchurch and the perfect rest stop. We stayed for one night only but will definitely be coming back & staying longer. As soon as we arrived we jumped on the complimentary bikes and went for a beautiful hour long bike ride around part of the lake which is just stunning. Followed the ride by a soak in the hot tub & then finished off a perfect afternoon with a 3 course dinner which was truthfully the nicest meal we had during our stay in New Zealand. The staff were extremely polite & knowledgeable, the amenities were outstanding, oh & the room was extremely comfortable with views looking over the lake. Thankyou Lakestone Lodge, we really did love our short stay with you.

Thank you so much Mike and Anna. We had a wonderful time staying at your beautiful Lakestone Lodge. Your Hydro tour was really interesting and to top the whole stay off, the night sky experience and your commentary was spectacular. Your staff are all fantastic and very attentive. All of the meals were delicious too. Our massages were so relaxing. Oh and the Mount Cook was pretty good too hahaha. As we trekked along the Tasman Glacier trail your words of “keep right, if you come to stairs go back and keep right! “echoed in our ears. Thanks for the advice. We kept right and was treated to fabulous scenery.

My wife and I stayed here after a long drive from Franz Josef. The lodge is very small so our check in and getting into the room was very easy. We had a regular lakeview room and the view and patio with view of the lake and Mt Cook was breathtaking. A real star of the hotel was the dinner and breakfast. They were both 5 star plus. The small staff was incredible and really take care of the guests. We wanted to do the night sky tour but it was too cloudy. On our departure day we ordered a picnic lunch for our trip to Mt Cook and that was very nice. We really felt welcome and pampered here. My wife enjoyed the bath looking out the wide window to Mt Cook. The lodge is off the beaten track but well worth the trip.

A superb experience. Views are sensational and the staff are brilliant, It is really good having the evening meal included ad the lodge is isolated. The meals were really good. We stayed for two nights and wished we had a third. You have to drive a lot to see the local towns and facilities but it is a remote area. Only tiny criticism was the rooms are in the small side and there is a lack of storage space. The best bit is the stargazing experience - we were lucky having a cloudless night - I would really recommend. They arrange a knowledgable guide and it is sensational coming from a city where you hardly see a star because of light pollution. Thanks for making our stay unforgettable,
