Really nice staff. Very comfortable room. Great views. Good food. Good location. Spectacular views of the evening electric thunderstorms over western Joburg. The Ecopark behind the hotel has awesome views but is a tricky scramble. Take water and sun screen

Not a single detail has been overlooked at The Cliffside. The warm welcome on arrival, refreshing welcome drink, yummy room snacks, incredible dinner, generous breakfast, comfy bed, amazing art, breathtaking views, attentive staff. I only wish we could have stayed more than one night! We will definitely be back.

Magical place, magical concept, or so it was in 2023. The owner has chosen a newer data collection model on its unsuspecting guests. Things that used to be friendly interactions between human beings are now sullied by e-check in and everything is data-collection based. Staff went so far as to mine personal information from a personal email and call the numbers they saw there. Bringing this to the attention of Paul Ronald Kinsley, the proprietor, has been all but ignored. The Cliffside Boutique's 9-Page "privacy" policy does appear on their website. Having been at this seeming paradise before and having such a beautiful stay, I did not think I was in peril. Everyone is so busy collecting data that simple things like towels in the lobby bathroom or making a traditional dish called Chakalaka were beyond their ability in the present moment, despite several loving requests. One true Gem of an employee they still have who has not yet been sullied and lost his soul, was Elias. He is a beautiful soul, genuine, considerate, generous, an all around authentic mzalwane.

Nice food, staff friendly and welcoming, good hospitality. The place is breath taking and peaceful, loved my room (sunset) actually loved everything about the place. I really enjoyed my stay wish it could have been longer. Really loved the romantic setup. Will definitely recommend this to my contacts.

This is a small, quaint hidden gem located in a beautiful neighborhood in Johannesburg. The staff are friendly and accommodating. They greet you when you come in with a drink and goodies. The meals they prepare are gourmet and delicious! If you need anything or to go somewhere they set everything up for you. The room we stayed in had a lovely patio area with access to a small hike that lead up to a cliffside viewpoint to see downtown. We went with 2 other couples and had the best time. We wish we would have stayed a little longer. We definitely would suggest staying here, it was an amazing experience!

The service provided at the hotel was fantastic alongside with the views and the food! It really felt like being wrapped in a warm blanket, the staff just made you feel so welcome! Me and my partner tried the fine dining menu twice and the food was simply wonderful! Not a single time was I disappointed! It is a bit secluded, around 30 minutes from Sandton but don’t let that shun you, Uber is very easy to use and you can be picked up and dropped of at the hotel at any time basically! To summarize, fabulous views, fantastic staff and a few days of peace and quiet with delicious food!

Everything at Cliffside is absolutely perfect, i.e Location, staff, rooms, facilities, breakfast & service - it was truly a”5-star” experience. Thank you Cindy and the team for making our stay amazing and also for all the little extra’s in the room (snacks, drinks, sunscreen, insect repellent, washing powder). We appreciate the delicious cappuccino’s and biscuits on arrival.

We stayed at Cliffside twice during our month of vacation travelling in South Africa. It was our absolutely favorite place to stay, both in terms of quality of lodging and food and value for money. The accommodations are luxurious and the staff exceptionally warm and attentive. The hotel is in superb condition with lovely art and a modern Scandinavian aesthetic. The food was excellent and tailored to our preferences. The staff even stored baggage for us while in another part of the country. The hotel is about a 45 taxi drive from the airport but don't be put off by the distance as the best awaits you and tours pick up at the hotel. It was too chilly to use the outdoor pool and we didn't hike the trails but these options would only further enhance a stay. This is a destination hotel, ideal for either recreation of business purposes. We will be back!
