At the topof a 600meter hill, virgin marie sanctuary is worth the cablecar trip, then the best choice for lunch is Montallegro ristorante. its rigth between the church and the canle car. They have a wonderful terrace overlookkng rapallo, portofino, … magnificent. After a warm welcome, treat yourself with home made ligurian meals and deserts. Price / Quality is excellent.

We visited here this afternoon for lunch after doing the cable carts. The views are absolutely breathtaking and the food was nice, however the only downside was, as we were the only English speaking custom there at the time we noticed we didn't get the same treatment as the other guests , for example all other tables were served a selection on breads with their meal which we did not get and also the waiter was pouring everyone else's drinks (wine) once finished but we were just left to it without even asking if we needed anything. If we were treated the same as others I would have given this place 5 stars so its ashame. Would I go again.....probably NOT due to this.

The Montallegro restaurant hotel is truly an Italian excellence, we stayed for 15 days and it was a wonderful stay. The management made by Mrs. Ilaria and Davide is impeccable, both are wonderful people who make you feel right at home !! The view from the terrace of the hotel on the Gulf of Tigullio leaves you breathless and the cuisine that is offered to you is fantastic with the highest quality products cooked with great care and professionalism. A particular appreciation for the professionalism of the Maitre d ', a man of great hotel culture and elegance that is difficult to find even in 5-star hotels. Cleanliness is the key word in the rooms. In short, a wonderful holiday !!

Always a place with enormous potential for the location, grace still present, apparently unchanged prices ... so what? So the portions are for anorexic ... I was unable to book the table I wanted because 2/3 of the panoramic outdoor spaces this year did not open them, citing as a reason that they would not have found staff. Possible but this is not how business is done: it is clear that to have staff and continue to offer an adequate service, employees need to be paid more ... halving portions and seats is a terrible entrepreneurial self-goal. Pity...
