Balneario de Retortillo

We spent 3 days at this spa/hôtel, and the best I can say, is that this place is just ok. The rooms are ok, the restaurant is ok, the spa is ok and the place is nice I guess ? The people working here are all very kind, they’ve been very accommodating and understanding. Now to be more precise, the rooms are fine, they are a bit dated and would require some work to modernize them, also, there’s a lack of equipment inside the rooms, no kettle, no blow drier, etc. The restaurant… is ok, it almost feels like a school canteen. The breakfast was nice, but there wasn’t a lot of choices and the lunch was… disappointing. There’s not a lot of choices and the food was very bland at times, it’s not bad though, but it almost felt like the food was defrosted and reheated. The place is nice, there’s a beautiful view outside and the scenery is very pretty. The spa is quite cool, you can chose between a 45 minutes spa circuit or a 60 minutes one. Although it was nice to enjoy the pool and the jacuzzi, it was a bit disappointing as it is quite small and if you were to be unlucky, you would have to spend your 45 minutes with 5-6 other people and in that case, the pool will feel quite small. Onto the most negative part of the hotel… there’s is NO way to gain access to the internet. No data, no wifi… well, there is supposed to be wifi but the signal is so weak, that you won’t even be able to load a website page other than Google. Overall, this hotel/spa isn’t bad, but it would require some renovating and some modernization to elevate it from being just ok, to very nice. I would recommend this place if you’re looking for a place to relax, and forget about the outside world but it gets boring very fast.
