AI Summary
Situated in a picturesque area near shops and restaurants, the friendly staff provides exceptional service. However, the disappointing continental breakfast and staffing issues during brunch are noted drawbacks.

First room was infested with wasps, couch was torn, a decanter of unsealed NY Cream Sherry was on the desk with a moldy tag. The light fixtures were filled with wasps flying everywhere. Management appeared irritated that we were bringing this up considering the hotel was booked because of a wedding. The right thing to do would have been to say we do not have availability as opposed to putting us in a room that tarnished the reputation of the Beekman Arms. The sister property we were offered was the most deplorable room I have ever seen, and we have traveled significantly and stayed at low budget as well as 4-star hotels. I cannot believe the Beekman arms would offer this room to anyone. This experience was terrible, we did not get a replacement room and we walked away feeling very disappointed in the service at this hotel.

Overall a disorganized, disappointing two nights at an historic inn that hasn’t seen an update in years. The room in the main house of Delamater Inn was musty, too warm, dirty, old tattered carpet, multiple locks added to the doors over the years, broken toilet seat, bugs in light fixture, multiple extensions cords for power access, stained curtains, lights over bed only turned off from switch across room, rusted and dirty baseboard heaters, poor lighting, cracked window panels, paint left all around windows. Additionally, if you wanted ice, you had to walk outside to another building, only a coffee maker was I. The room. At check in I was left waiting because the woman walked away to return later with a beverage for herself. The information given to get from checkin to the other building was not clear and I found other guests as confused as I was. When finally parking and arriving, two flights of stairs and no elevators became a challenge. I resorted to calling, they sent a maintenance man to carry my luggage. Multiple times I asked for information regarding where functions were to be held for our group and the staff seemed to either lack knowledge or were confused.

We went to the hotel and asked to see a room. The front desk people were extremely rude. Should have been a sign but we were tired. They said no to showing us a room. We went to another building for the room on our own. It was horrendous. Smelled musty. There was so much trash outside. The building was depressing. We left. Do not stay at this hotel if you have a choice. Beware. I feel bad writing a review but the management needs to fix these issues. Oldest hotel in America does not come with any perks!

I was told we’d be in the Delamater house but we were put in a shoddy old motel down the road called “The Village Inn.” The room was musty, run down, dingy. Breakfast was just as bad. We served ourselves on paper and plastic, but went out to breakfast at a wonderful dinner in Hyde Park. Chain hotels offer superior breakfast compared to what we had at Beekman Arms. Very disappointed.

The Beekman and Delamater locations were full so I agreed to try out the Rhinebeck Village Inn, their more basic and less expensive third property that’s less than a mile drive away (with easy parking). I was told it would have the same standards. It does not! It’s a motel that seems it has gone through the most minimal of change when bought and put under new management (there are Beekman toiletries and that’s about it). My room was musty and the windows were both broken. The front desk of the Beekman, which is responsible for check in and attending to guests at all properties, seems woefully under staffed. The continental breakfast was really disappointing—watery coffee and canned fruit, only dry cereals and pastries and pre-boiled cold eggs.

I stayed in the Inn the night before heading to The Omega Institute for a weekend workshop. Location is excellent — right in the center of town. Room was on the 3rd floor in the rear and was clean, a little tired looking, but adequate for my one-night solo stay. Bed and linens very comfortable. Desk clerk at checkin was friendly and helpful, but as a solo female traveler I REALLY wished she hadn’t announced my room number when she gave me the key ( yes, they still use real keys!). A warning though to anyone who stays in Room 34 — you may be awakened around 12:30 AM by the sound of a man on the roof using a garden hose to clean out the massive kitchen exhaust fan that is just outside your window. “Those are our hood cleaners” I was told at checkout. I questioned the timing of their “hood cleaning” and was told they always do the job at night when the fan isn’t running. Although this must make sense, I question the timing of this maintenance when nearby paying guests are awakened by the noise and are left to wonder if perhaps he was using the hose to extinguish flames! It was my only issue with my stay. In spite of it, I would return to The Beekman Inn on my next visit to Rhinebeck. I’ll ask for a room that’s not in the back of the building.

The toilet was not working at 1:30AM. The hotel operations manager, Nicole Coulon has called me a liar and refused to refund the $372 nightly charge. Her behavior is disgraceful.

Don’t go here. They are snarky from the time you find the place to check in, after being unable to reach them by phone. Our room was very basic, windows didn’t open, headboard up against the AC— so either too cold and noisy or too warm; awful breakfast— the kind you have and then have go out to eat afterwards (including luke warm decaf). A complete disappointment.
