Beautiful 2 night half board stay. Peaceful, lovely suite with bath in bedroom and very friendly staff. Spa great and even tried outside sauna and pool - certainly refreshing in March. Nice location with easy access to train up into the mountains. Breakfast offered wide choice - dinner a decent selection which was good but not excellent. Really enjoyable and very good value.

Wonderfully peaceful boutique hotel just 10 minutes walk from the Nuria railway station. Large comfortable room with balcony overlooking the valley. Glorious infinity pool and excellent breakfast. Helpful welcoming staff. Dinner not quite up to the high standards elsewhere so hope that this could be improved.

Quiet and lovely hotel nested in beautiful scenery above Ribes. Because we were coming with a dog, we could not choose our room and had to take one of the "basic" ground floor rooms, accessible directly from the outside (so we would not have to take the dog through the common spaces of the hotel). However, we were not disappointed. The room and bathroom were spacious enough, and the room had a small terrace which opened up directly on the pasture outside, with a beautiful view over the mountains. We could have stayed there for ever, relaxing on the sunloungers, enjoying the view and sipping our drinks from room service. The hotel has a fantastic spa with pool, jaccuzzi, sauna, excellent steam room and various kinds of showers. We had dinner on both days at the hotel and the food was varied and excellent. The hotel is within walking distance (10 mns walk) to the train station in Ribes where you can take the train to Val de Nuria. On the downside, there was no hospitality tray in the room, and we were slightly disappointed by the buffet breakfast (limited choice and not very good quality, we expected much better after the dinner we had had).

A visit to the beautiful and serene Vall de Nuria – summer or winter – may be considered a day trip from Barcelona, but why rush? Consider spending at least two nights in Ribes de Freser, the access point to Val de Nuria through an Alpine-style mountain railway operated with Swiss efficiency, to take in the peace, the green scenery and the cool climate. This hotel, Resguard Dels Vents, is a perfect location: a bright, airy, spa-like boutique hotel that delivers just the right experience with a great value for the money. It is located on the outskirts of the town, within walking distance to the Ribes Vila station of the mountain railway, with panoramic views of the valley from each room, some of which that open up directly onto a grassy meadow. Very clear signage at every street intersection in town makes this hotel easy to locate, but be careful – the streets are very narrow and the turns tight. With less than 20 rooms, this hotel is the place where management and staff get to know you within minutes, or where you can choose to be seated always at the same table at the restaurant, which offers very high quality breakfast and dinner options. Also, the self-guided indoor spa circuit, available in 90-minute windows, is a treat not to be missed, especially after a hike in the mountains (the price is included in some packages, make sure to check upon making reservations).
