Hotel Dory

I stayed at Hotel Dory in May 2025 with my cycling club and reserved a brand-new, high-end carbon Scott e-road bike with electronic shifting—important due to past wrist and ankle injuries. I received confirmation of the exact model and size. At the scheduled fitting, the staff couldn’t find the bike. The bike manager insisted it was there and even showed me the matching inventory number on my contract. Fifteen minutes later, he told me the bike was “out for repair.” I later learned the bike had been reassigned to another guest the day before after his e-bike broke down. I was given the same aluminum gravel e-bike he had refused—a major downgrade with mechanical shifting. I was told new bikes were being ordered and would arrive mid-week. They never came. A mechanic finally admitted none were ever ordered. I ended up riding the gravel e-bike all week for 40–50 mile road rides—far from what I expected. Others in my group had serious bike failures too, suggesting the fleet is aging and no longer matches what’s advertised. Worse, the bike manager selectively handed out review cards only to guests with positive experiences—clearly trying to influence online ratings. Bottom line: Hotel Dory’s cycling program is not what it once was. If you’re a serious rider expecting a quality, reliable bike, consider other Riccione bike hotels such as Belvedere or bring your own. I can’t recommend Hotel Dory until they fix both their fleet and their honesty.

This Hotel is amazing with their care of the client. From room service, to the incredible meals! Top notch chefs creations, wonderful wines, the list goes on...and as a cyclist, everything needed to ride the mountains is here to make us safe, maintain bikes, ect...

I went to the Hotel Dory with my local UK cycling club. We were more than 50 in total. We stayed at the hotel and rented bikes from them The overall experience was amazing and exceeded all of my expectations. I had a very comfortable double room which was well equipped and wonderfully quiet. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were all made extremely welcome by the staff and the owner. The buffet-style meals were all of very high quality and offered every kind of Italian cuisine. It was almost as much an eating holiday as it was cycling. The bike hire team were also very attentive and fitted my own saddle and pedals to my rented bike and made sure I was comfortable and safe with it. The hotel also provided a daily choice of rides with excellent guides who knew every road and and path in the surrounding area. They also helped us appreciate the local history and culture, taking us to churches, castles and through beautiful scenery, helping and encouraging us and ensuring that everyone had a great ride. Every day was different, taking us to towns and villages around Emilia-Romagna and Marche. One day we cycled up to the republic of San Marino, with its hill-top castle and were treated to a beautiful barbecue lunch on the return journey. The hotel also provided outings on foot for non-cyclists and offered a wine-tasting and a cooking experience for everyone. I will definitely return to the Hotel Dory.

I joined a cycling group of 20 riders at the hotel Dory for several days of riding. Most of us are fit septuagenarians. Hotel Dory cycling staff fitted us with very good carbon fiber Scott road bikes and e-bikes. They provided routes which we did on our own or with one of their guides. Hotel Dory is in Riccione, which is on the Adriatic Sea. From the sea, we rode through rolling farmland to historic hill towns with cobblestone streets, good restaurants, and beautiful views. Some climbs were long and steep. There were about 120 cyclists in multiple groups from around the USA there. The hotel staff was very helpful and welcoming. Meals were buffet style. Food was nutritious, plentiful and very tasty. Rooms were comfortable.

The staff were wonderful, attentive, professional and happy, they made the holiday very enjoyable. The room was very generous in size, important when spreading our cycling kit and deciding what to wear in sunshine and rain. The bed was very comfortable after a long day on the bike so it was difficult to leave it in the morning at breakfast time! I was particularly thrilled with the free washing service for the cycling kit and so next year I’ll bring less . On reflection I would quite like a long day trip out on the bike,as long as that doesn’t mean doubling the number of hills to go up!

Hotel Dory couldn't have done more for our group of 57 - both cyclists and non-cyclists. Wonderful welcome, fantastic food, and knowledgeable guides. The owner was an amazing host, and all staff were welcoming and attentive, without exception. Luckily all seemed to be multi lingual. They threw an amazing surprise party for us to celebrate our club's 100 year anniversary - at the end of a ride. Even a thunderstorm didn't deter them, or us. The cycling was excellent and caters for all. Stunning countryside, coffee in hilltop villages. There were fast groups, dolce vita groups and everything in-between. The bikes we hired were good, and the mechanics set them up to your individual requirement. But do take your own saddle for personal comfort! The administration staff were incredibly helpful, and organised a coach, which we chartered, to take us from Bologna airport to Hotel Dory. The non-cyclist activities were very popular and enjoyed by all, making it easy to go on a cycling holiday with your non-cycling partner. The rooms were spotless and well equipped. We are returning in 2026!
