Did not know what to expect but it definitely exceeded my expectations- great location close to MCG and Tennis centre for events as well as the great restaurants and bars In Richmond. Loved the warm welcoming feel and decor. Staff were extremely friendly and let me check in a bit earlier. The bar and restaurant- Ms Parker is amazing .highly recommend to anyone who wants something different from the standard bland hotel - loved it ! Will be coming back for sure

Room was tastefully decorated with decent amenities but had a few critical issues:
- mattress was sloping downwards on one end
- bathroom had a rain shower but the open wall design (lack of doors) meant that the water was constantly splashing out. What’s the point of a rain shower if we can’t use it because of the water splashing out?
- no fan / ventilation in the bathroom. We spent time in airbnbs and older apartments in Tasmania but the Motley Richmond hotel in Melbourne was the only accommodation without an airvent / fan! Not really acceptable for a 4 star hotel, as it left our bathroom smelly and/or stuffy.
- kettle barely fit underneath the tap if we wanted to boil a cup of tea. Once again, the little things showed that the team did not think through the furniture design and appliance and the overall customer experience.

Hotel was great, modern and clean. The staff at the hotel great, accommodating, but services let them down a bit. Some confusion or other with a staff person at cafe, but hotel staff sorted everything. Food was great at the cafe. The room was cosy and clean although bathroom layout didn’t make a whole lot sense and cramped.
The location for us was good so would definitely consider staying again.

The hotel is very new, the rooms are clean, the decoration has its own style, and the color matching is bold. All the staff I met had a good service attitude, and they also gave me a free breakfast.
Room: Good sound insulation, I can't hear the noise downstairs when I sleep at night
Location: The hotel is not in the city center, but there is a tram at the door of the hotel to the city center, which only takes more than ten minutes. There are supermarkets, many restaurants and bars around

I highly recommend Motley, a low-key and luxurious hotel in Richmond. It looks inconspicuous from the outside, but it is very exquisite inside. The design and supplies of the guest rooms are very tasteful, clean and hygienic! Just walk for more than a kilometer to Fitzroy Garden, and it is also very convenient to go to the City. You can take the tram at the door. It is not noisy in the City and the environment is very quiet but convenient. You can reach the City business district on foot or by tram. The coffee shop downstairs is very good. The front desk lady is very enthusiastic and took the initiative to send me another bag of candy the next day. The room was already there when I checked in. The service details are very warm and the hotel with a strong sense of design is highly recommended.
