Hotel des Epoques

I spent two days at the Des Epoques hotel and was truly amazed by the interior of the place. It is an old hotel in the middle of Rome with a beautiful classic-style breakfast room. The administrator was polite and helpful, so I want to recommend this place. However, the hotel is a little overpriced.

This hotel is beautiful but a little tired however that doesn’t take away from its charm. The room was cleaned daily, staff were very friendly and helpful and lots of choice for breakfast. Do get down early for breakfast to enjoy it hot. The room has old fashioned charm and is grand if a little dated but frankly I prefer the character when visiting a new country. Plenty of hot water and the option of a bath or a shower. The bus can be caught just outside and the 60 or the 62 will get you to most of the sights you will want to see. As you come out of the hotel turn left and just down the road is a lovely place to eat which isn’t over priced. Turn right as you come out and just up the road is the Tobacco shop to buy your bus tickets. Make sure you get tickets as we saw lots of people being removed from the bus for not having a ticket and they take your passport details and fine you 50 euros 😱 If you come out of the tobacco shop and turn right and follow the road around there is an amazing ice cream shop just down the road. On the corner up from the hotel is a pizza takeaway, also delicious. I don’t think I’ll be back to Rome but if I were to visit I’d stay here again. I will be sad to leave in the morning x

Not at all what was expecting. We arrived and were brought outside the hotel to another door to our room. Hallway entrance to the lift was horrible.was like goin to an unkempt apartment building Room was small. Kettle in the room but no tea or coffee. Cheap plastic glasses in the bayhroom not even a real glass.Zero interaction with staff as we were separate to the hotel. Was advertised as city centre close to all attractions. Definitely not the case. Wouldn't recommend

Not a 4 star Safety deposit box broken Reported it 3 times never fixed - it’s not locked in place - you can pick it up and carry out of room! Had to lock our valuables in the lining of our case! Breakfast was awful - paper cups for juice - no glasses Pastries were fresh but over sweet No edible hot food Sloppy egg and a tea light keeping it warm. Rooms are musty - very old - felt like we were staying in a museum. Furniture so old could unpack as clothes would smell old. Bathroom was ok good shower but very small. Room not serviced one day - cleaner came at 330 - we just asked for fresh towels. It was advertised as a city centre hotel It is not 20 mins on a crowded bus from the centre Do not stay here
