Hotel Sisto V

Definitely a budget operation with an scary elevator, uncomfortable mattresses, showers so tiny it's impossible to turn around, awful breakfasts and nowhere comfortable on the property to sit down. In 2024 a taxi into the city was 30Euro although you can walk a fair distance and take a train.

While I was not the one travelling, i do have an interesting story about this place. A friend of mine's daughter had a reservation here that had to be changed, however, even after previously paying for trip insurance, this business refused to refund my friend's money. She gave them 5 days notice, paid insurance, and is out $1200 USD.

Small hotel but very cosy and clean. Rooms just enough for 1-2persons max but I had a balcony which was nice though there is no particular view to enjoy but gives a breathing space. Staff extremely helpful. I had a minor accident and they went out of their way to assist me even though it had nothing to do with the hotel. It's slightly out of centre. Well connected by train to city centre and taxi.

Well worn hotel with helpful staff but mattresses made it feel like resting on rocks and bedsprings. One more night and I would have needed medical care! Worst sleep and shower facilities we’ve seen anywhere in the world. Tiny 24 inch shower opening too small for many to bathe and doors allow water to wet floors outside shower pan.Tiny space makes it difficult to turn around. See other reviewers photos that show this problem. Staff member Andrea was the only rude staff at reception. Refused to look at me when I asked for water or ice. “There’s a machine” was his indifferent reply. When asked about help with luggage, “there’s a lift” was his sole reply. There is nowhere comfortable to sit or rest on the property, inside or out. Location is 20euro taxi from central Rome. We do NOT recommend this hotel!!!!!

First the good news. Sisto V is reasonably priced and in the decent part of town. It is extremely clean and the beds were comfortable. The shower is a little small but had plenty of hot water and water pressure. The breakfast was adequate and the hotel is close to the train station and bus stop. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Now the bad news. The room was very small. we were an adult and 2 teenage boys. Three twin beds were crammed into a very small space leaving little room for luggage or even a chair to sit on. When booking the hotel I was led to believe that it is centrally located and a short walk to many of the sites around Rome. That is not true. It is a bit out of the way. (probably my fault for not verifying its location before booking). Though it is close to the train station and an easy ride into the center of the city the trains were not always running when we wanted to get to or from the sites. As a result we were forced to take taxis which costs anywhere from 20 to 35 euros each way. Overall the experience was fine and I would probably stay there again knowing what I know now.

Room was ultra small, shower was terrible and as small as a dolls house shower, TV was on top of the wardrobe, spoke to receptionist 3 times to change rooms and was Never offered an alternative, no ironing facilities, 165 euros for what I can only describe as the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. Will never return. Every time I complained the managers were sat int he back office listening but letting the receptionist deal with complaints, cowards.
