Hotel la Fuente de la Higuera

We traveled to Ronda after a couple of busy days in Madrid and Seville. What a wonderful experience at this hotel!! Beautiful room (we had room #2), gorgeous, peaceful property and outstanding service!!! We traveled by train but it was easy to call for a cab to and from the town center. A magical experience!!

So this is pretty difficult to write because upon driving up, the place looks great. We were upgraded into a larger room but unfortunately we didn’t think it was that good. The bed had two single duvets on a queen sized bed which didn’t really work for us. The bathroom was without doubt the weakest element though. Without extraction, mould will grow and it did here in two significant patches. Good points, plenty of hot water, great shower. Bad points, mould, not enough power sockets (had to boil the kettle on the floor) no plugs by the bed to charge phones etc… Restaurant and restaurant staff, exceptional. We were also a bit sad that the pool was empty with just leaves in it. We weren’t told that this would be the case and whilst we wouldn’t necessarily have swam, it was definitely warm enough to sit outside and it’s nicer to sit by a pool. Needs a decent amount of investment to bring it up to what it could be and then they’d probably be able to charge double for the rooms but keep the restaurant the same and it’s a winning combination. I think another problem which isn’t the hotels fault was that we’d just travelled to this hotel from a really nice hotel in Seville which likely made the differences stand out more.

We loved this small hotel outside Ronda. We were lucky to be upgraded to a deluxe suite with terrace (room 2). Very comfortable bed, tasteful decor, great food and friendly staff. Will return some day. Recommend a suite for privacy. We also appreciated the honesty bar.

We were looking for a nice, small hotel outside Ronda where we could relax and enjoy a more rural setting while still being close to town. This was perfect. While Ronda was a wonderful town to explore I don't think you need to spend the night there. You can see it all in a half day. We had a beautiful room with a canopy bed, a lovely outdoor space will views across the valley. I personally loved the decor. We stayed for two nights and had breakfast and dinner there both days. The food was very good. There are no tv's in the rooms which was just fine for us. We had a fireplace which we used one night. It was lovely but did find it a bit smoky in our room so we opted not to use it the second night. I loved that they had a selection of games available in the common areas which we took advantage of, as well as a vast collection of CD's which we could play in the dining room and in our room. That was a nice touch. The pool looked really nice though it was too cold for swimming (for us). The only piece of constructive feedback I'd give is that I wish they had a list of hikes and/or bike rides readily available. (with maps.) and perhaps other things to do in the area. They did give us suggestions but it was a bit off the cuff. On their website, I remember seeing that they offered guided walks and bike rides but nobody mentioned that when we were there. There was no sign of any bikes available to use either though we didn't ask so perhaps they were there. All in all, I would defiantly recommend this hotel.

From our arrival to a party celebrating their 25th anniversary to breakfast on our last day overlooking the stunning view, we loved our stay here. We splashed out on a suite and it was stunning - private sunbathing balcony, gorgeous sitting room, and ultra comfortable bed. The food is excellent and the feel of the hotel is like staying with friends. Easy drive into Ronda but I can see how you could happily stay on site and just enjoy the peace and luxury!
