Hotel near Kawaha Point,Rotorua
"The environment is really good, close to the lake, the accommodation is on the first floor, and the second floor is the restaurant and other public facilities. I like the breakfast room on the second floor, which is said to be the best in the town. But I can't praise the sincerity of the hotel's service. We arrived at night, and we were greeted by a Chinese who claimed to be borrowed from another hotel to work the night shift. I learned that the owner of the hotel is Chinese. There are several stores in the town, so it is understandable that the staff are shared. But the following few things are very strange and make people doubt whether this store has professionalism and evil intentions: First, we were arranged to stay in a room. After settling down, we checked the original order and found that it was inconsistent with the room type picture in the order. We found the receptionist and responded that it was a mistake because he was not familiar with it. He agreed to change it and showed enthusiasm to help move the luggage. We forgave him temporarily; After checking in, we found that there was a device failure and called the waiter again. He came to fix it himself. At this time, it was known that he was not a temporary help and was not unfamiliar with the situation in the store; At breakfast the next day, one of us went to breakfast first and found that there was only a small area with simple milk, cold bread and other foods. He asked the waiter (still the same person) why there were so few. He brought an English menu and said that there were freshly made dishes here, but they needed to be paid separately. When we came to eat, the waiter still swore that it only included a simple breakfast😰. It is not uncommon for breakfast restaurants to make breakfast according to customer needs. Our hotel room included breakfast fees, so how could it be just simple milk and bread? At this time, the waiter started to call someone, and a white woman came. After a few simple conversations, it was immediately OK. At the same time, it also reported to Ctrip, which booked the hotel. After verification, Ctrip apologized and comforted. A wonderful journey, beautiful scenery, and a beautiful breakfast were almost ruined by the waiter. The most ridiculous thing is that he swore that this is the case here, and a single order will be charged separately. After proving that he was wrong, he also added that the store where I work charges separately; Another detail that happened later proved his problem again: when we communicated with the white staff and got OK, she brought over a Chinese and English menu. Recalling that the Chinese waiter only handed over the English one. At this point, there is no doubt that it was intentional before. To put it nicely, it was done by the employees themselves. If they were caught, they would collect black money to make extra money, but there was obviously no price on the menu. Is this blind or low IQ? ! The waiter also introduced himself as working here after graduating from a graduate program in New Zealand. I suspect that the hotel owner instructed them to test the waters with Chinese guests. When someone raised a question, he said that the waiter was unfamiliar with the situation and made a mistake. If he got away with it, he would get away with it. If the waiter was really unfamiliar with the situation and made repeated mistakes, the hotel is also responsible. Since it is a hotel open to the public and the price is not cheap, shouldn't it be equipped with professional and well-educated waiters? Isn't it a serious discount on the service if someone who is not trained and unfamiliar with the situation comes? ! Fortunately, Ctrip is guaranteed. Afterwards, it has received a 300 yuan consolation payment. I hope that in the future, it will strengthen the review and supervision of this type of non-standard homestay hotel services to protect the interests of tourists, especially to avoid possible traps in overseas travel. I didn't expect that even today, I would still encounter traps set by Chinese people against Chinese people. I hope that I will not receive consolation money in the future. After all, it is more important to be happy when traveling. But thank you Ctrip for its quick response."

"The owner and her cute cat (named Paola) welcomed us. The room was clean and cleaned every day. There were plenty of towels. The shower room was a little old, but the water pressure was strong. However, the hot water was surprised by how cold it was every time because it had to go through cold water first. It was fixed in the bathroom, but I was happy that there were tissues. The bar soap had the soothing scent of New Zealand's famous manuka honey. The kitchen was equipped with cutlery. There was a stove, but there was no ventilation fan, so if you want to grill meat, I recommend using the BBQ stove outside. Laundry was $2 for the dryer. If you are looking for a motel in Rotorua, I recommend this motel!"

"Generally speaking, although all the hotels booked during the self-driving trip around New Zealand may not be available in luxury hotels (after all, the population density is very low), basically all the hotel beds are very comfortable and clean, which is really important. During the day, we are basically outside either driving or hiking, so having a comfortable and clean bed when we rest really ensures our sleep quality. I was mentally prepared before arriving at the room every time, but in fact, every time it was a little bit beyond my expectations. Like the one I booked in Rotorua this time, the room was clean and tidy, the bedding and mattress were very comfortable, and there was an extra bed in the room. The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen has an oven, the bathroom has a washing machine, and it's very close to the busiest streets. Because the itinerary is very tight, I arrive at the hotel very late every time and leave very early, so the above conditions are considered satisfactory for self-driving travel👍👍"

"The cabin room is very distinctive, with the campervan, each independent cabin can be parked next to the quiet privacy, there is a small table and stool at the door to rest, and the outdoor environment is also very good. The front desk service was thoughtful and polite, and would take the initiative to introduce the surrounding tourism projects. I gave me a pack for free when I didn't bring the money to buy washing powder. The room is clean and tidy, there is a simple coffee table, the kitchen is in the courtyard, the guests can use it, there is a children's play room next to it, the humanization is very thoughtful"

MMitchellRoom was very disappointing. We thought we would be staying in the original hotel building however our room was in an additional newer building down the road. The room has a poor layout, furniture was worn, carpet was dirty, curtain rail rusting, poor tiling and painting. Did not have the historic special feeling we expected. Photos looked 4 stars, room looked 1 star in the flesh. The room was expensive compared to other options in town. We couldn't believe it and wanted to cancel our 2nd night. Staff were great but the room was not what we wanted

GGuest UserUp on arrival we were allocated our room which was not what we expected, we found the outlook unacceptable looking over roofs, when it rained it got quite noisy. When we booked the outlook from the balcony was not what you get. The balcony was very dirty and had not been cleaned for some time. We asked for another room where the reply was you have one of our premium room if you want another room it will cost you $300 more. So the lesson learned here is to check your room first. The shower was inside a bath that was large enough for children or small adults this was disappointing. The Spa has timer on the pump on the occasion I used it we had no pump and would not turn on even after the 15 minutes rest and resetting the Red button on the wall .  The buffet was a shock $70 per person, outside buffet averaged $35, don’t get me wrong the buffet was good lacking in taste on some items but overall a good standard. Breakfast was very good a 9/10 for sure, bar service and staff service were also very good, overall it needs to improve some of the housekeeping and up date the Spa area, pool looked very good plenty of towels, the outside area here could do with a makeover like shelter areas from the sun and rain. Would we go again, unsure the room for the price would definitely have to change.

GGuest UserStayed here for 3 nights and it was a good stay apart from some of the facilities available in the room. Clean rooms however bathroom needs a upgrade. Being a 4 star hotel and still using stained bath tubs with curtain for showers. Also arrived hotel at 4pm (2pm check in time) and was told to wait as rooms were still not ready until 5:30.

GGuest UserGreat location in the heart of Rotorua, right next door to the lake and Eat Street restaurants and came highly recommended to us, but left us a little disappointed - especially for the price. Room a little outdated, holes in the blinds which let the light in, dirty grout in the shower and the shower head was broken and the glasses were dirty. I never ever leave a bad review, but after a great experience at 4 other different hotels across NZ this trip, the front desk lady on arrival at the Novotel was not the friendliest - it felt like we were an inconvenience to her. It was check in time and she was the only staff member on with a queue of people. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable.

AAnonymous UserHotel is located at city centre and we found the room to be comfortable and with good basic amenities. No room slipper, shaver like most hotels in Asia, we were provided with shower gel, shampoo, shower cap, vanity kit. Hotel also has gym, pool and hot tub. Overall a pleasant stay with comfortable bed.

SSyhui HoStrategically located at the city center, this place offers great convenience to a lot of restaurants nearby. The infamous Polynesian spa is within walking distance (about 5 minutes walk) and other attractions such as government gardens, sulphur point, lake Rotorua etc. are within walking distance. We got a double room for more privacy, basic amenities are available but I do not think there is a hairdryer (I brought mine anyway) so prepare one if you were to stay here.

GGuest UserGreat time had there. Staff are helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great.  Only thing I didn’t really appreciate was, we didn’t have a kitchen sink in our room which we were a bit confused about. Had to fill up the kettle from  the bathroom sink. That’s ok, but if I had known previously from the booking, I  would have asked for a room  with a sink.   Otherwise very satisfactory😁

The room is spacious, The bathroom flower sprinkle has strong water outlet and the overall service is satisfactory. The downside is that the room has no air conditioning, only fans are provided, and the wall lights are not operating normally.
