Arcadia Lodge Russell

Arcadia Lodge is a stunning property with amazing views and hosted by 2 guys, Greg and Peter, who just want you to have a fabulous time and will arrange any activity you want to do in the area. Peters breakfasts are to die for and we found lunch wasn’t needed! We stayed 5 nights and found plenty to do in the area. Arcadia Lodge was a great place to relax in the evening if we’d dined out. The house itself has an interesting history and full of character. It is beautifully appointed as was our room. A sundowner on the terrace ( or personal balcony) overlooking the lovely bay is the icing on the cake. We would definitely recommend it if you are in this part of NZ.

We had a great 3 night stay stay at Arcadia Lodge and would highly recommend it for anyone spending time in the Bay of Islands area. Greg and Peter are amazing hosts and provided us with plenty of recommendations on what to do during our stay. Special mention for the absolutely delicious breakfast, which varied every day. We look forwards to coming back soon.

Arcadia Lodge is very ably run by Peter and Greg who looked after us so well during our stay in Russell. Peter’s breakfasts are to die for with many of the ingredients coming from their garden. The accommodation was very comfortable and well situated high on a hill overlooking a beautiful bay only a 7 minute walk to the waterfront and Russell’s wharf and restaurants. Our hosts were on hand with recommendations on where to eat, activities such as a boat trip exploring the area as well as practical information such as where to get laundry done. We met other lovely guests in this warm and friendly lodge.

My wife and I had 3 great days/nights staying with Greg and Peter at their B&B/home. We were driving in heavy rain after a long day of travel, called from the road to see if there was a room, and Greg answered. I felt like I had just called my long lost, favorite cousin. He was accommodating and friendly. He guided us to the property and texted us to make sure we caught the ferry at Opua. We didn’t arrive until after 8pm and had not eaten all day. He called a local restaurant for us so we could get a bite before coming to the Arcadia Lodge. The accommodations were superb including the room décor, cleanliness, linens and even the soap. The breakfast was yummy, and the kitchen well stocked with local wines and homemade cookies. The two hosts were also very helpful in pointing out local sights and assisting in making reservations. The cost of our 3-day stay was extremely fair. We give them 10 stars on a 5-star scale. We look forward to returning.

Such a charming place with stunning views! And such friendly and welcoming hosts with attention to every detail! Absolutely delicious home-cooked breakfasts as well! Comfortable accommodation. As it happened, we were all caught in the effects of a Tasman Sea cyclone including a power outage of the whole Bay of Islands area. We were looked after and made to feel safe for this period by the hosts.

Peter and Greg are obviously perfectionists and this is reflected everywhere in Arcadia Lodge. The breakfasts are to die for, with beautiful decor to match the wonderful view. They spent a great deal of time explaining what to do in the area. Could not be faulted.
