Gkat Resort

Stopped here for 2 nights on the way to Lake Bunyonyi and 1 night on our return journey, as a party of 11. Beautiful property, currently under renovation in parts. Our rooms were spacious and airy with large bathrooms. Mosquito nets. Breakfast was included in the price. Dinner portions were generous and delicious. Order your food earlier in the evening (we ordered by 5pm, for 7pm and the food was on time.) The staff constructed a campfire after dinner for us every night (free of charge) and kept returning to top it up throughout the evening. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way at every opportunity to help. We didn't want to leave, and would recommend this property to anyone who is passing through Mbarara.

We were passing through this area en route to another place and decided to break our journey with a 2 night stay and a 1 night stay a couple of days later on the way back. We consisted of a family party of 11 spread over 4 rooms (including the driver). Prices were very reasonable, rooms were clean and very spacious. Excellent views over the valley. Food was good quality and varied. Staff were friendly. They provided us with campfires each night for no charge and introduced us to a relative of the owner who runs a local country club where we could swim and the children could ride horses for a very reasonable cost. If you are in the area you will not regret staying here.
