The Mattmarkblick hotel was a super welcoming base for a day of winter hiking to the nearby Mattmark dam. The house is simple but has large rooms and plenty of thick duvets against the cold nights. The a la carte dinner had plenty of choices, including a very nicely prepared entrecote. The breakfast was plentiful before a day of hiking. The stay’s highlight were the lovely staff members, chatty and super welcoming.

Wirklich alles!! Service, freundlicher Kundendienst, nette Eigentürmin, perfekte Lage, leckeres Essen...aber, wichtigste! Ich habe mich sofort geschlafen, schon in ersten Minuten. Im ganzen Region gibt es nix besseres als Mattmarkblick.

Wir verbrachten zusammen mit Freunden 4 Nächte im Haus Mattmarkblick. Als frühere Stammgäste war es uns bewusst, das mit einem neuen Besitzer selbstverständlich Veränderungen einhergehen. Aber was wir bei unserem Aufenthalt erlebten war doch sehr ernüchternd. Das Wirtepaar Daniela und Peter Grob erlebten wir als äusserst unfreundlich und unprofessionell. Keine Begrüssung weder zum Frühstück noch zum Abendessen , kein Wort beim vorbeigehen oder irgendwelches Interesse am wohlergehen des Gastes. Minimale Anstandsregeln wurden vermisst. Das Frühstücksbuffet war o.k. Wurde auf Aufforderung aufgefüllt. Das angepriesene 5 Gang-Abendessen entpuppte sich als kostengünstiges qualitativ einfaches Essen ohne jegliche Raffinesse. Salatbuffet nicht vorhanden, anstelle kleiner Teller mit Fertigdressing. Beim "check out" keine Nachfrage zum Aufenthalt und zu guter letzt keine Verabschiedung. Es ist schade, wenn ein früher familiäres und gemütliches, mit Herzblut geführtes Gasthaus, durch fehlendes Engagement und mangelder Proffessionalität so negativ enttäuscht. Wir drei Ehepaare können den Mattmarkblick leider nicht mehr weiterempfehlen!

Zuerst mal zu den positiven Aspekten: Das Hotel ist gut anfahrbar, liegt zentral in Saas Almagell, es gibt gute Parkmöglichkeiten und zum Skilift sind es nur ein paar Meter. Unser Zimmer war sehr klein, aber sauber. Das waren aber schon alle positiven Aspekte. Bereits von aussen riecht man vor dem Haus den Frittiergeruch der Kroketten, die es im Restaurant des Hotels wohl in Unmengen gibt. Auch im ganzen Haus und im Zimmer hat es überall diesen Frittiergeruch. Der Skikeller ist ungepflegt. Der Balkon unseres Zimmers war renovierungsbedürftig. Die Matratzen sind durchgelegen, in den Schränken riecht es so muffig, dass man nichts reinräumen möchten und die Schiene der Durchabtrennung ist grossflächig verschimmelt. Die Auswahl beim Frühstück ist sehr limitiert. Der Kaffee schmeckt nach gar nichts und die Fruchsäfte kommen aus einem Automaten, sind offensichtlich aus mit Wasser angerührtem Pulver und schäumen noch für die ganze Dauer des Frühstücks vor sich hin. Die Wirtin, die auch im Gastraum frühstückt, bekommt aber richtigen Orangensaft. Auch für ein eher günstiges Hotel stimmt hier das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis absolut nicht.
