Thistle House Guest House

We travel all over the world and are used to staying in top quality although usually corporate styled hotels, as I was due to participate in a BDMLR course at the nearby Lochgoilhead,we decided to stay at the Thistle House Guest House, and what a find, from the minute we arrived we received an exceptional welcome, we were shown to a beautiful room with stunning views,we were then invited to the lounge for coffee ,cake and shortbread, the hosts could not do enough for us preparing early breakfasts ( delicious omletes) and we had requested packed lunches which by any standards were incredible, sandwiches, sausage rolls, cake , biscuits , crisps, and fruit ,water, all for an exceptionally reasonable price, the guest house was immaculate throughout spotlessly clean ,we felt like we were the first guest to have entered this sumptuous property, it was so well looked after, the property was fully occupied yet we felt as if we were the only guests and so enjoyed the grandeur of Thistle House , additionally the hosts were kind enough to give us details of nearby restaurants which allowed us to book in advance. finally we had an exceptionally comfortable sleep, the rooms are all en-suite with well equipped bathrooms with shower, ample parking and well signposted in both directions, definitely visit again !!!

We had an excellent stay with Sue and Avril starting with tea and cake in the beautiful, large lounge. The have carried the thistle theme throughout which I appreciated as an interior designer. Take advantage of the gorgeous views from the cushioned patio furniture out front. Our room was the MacNaughton which included two chairs and small table overlooking the water providing a spectacular view to sip tea and enjoy the peace and tranquility from the privacy of your room. The bathroom had a large shower and the decor was in a stylish fish theme as was the breakfast room. Both ladies were extremely helpful with questions we had about the area and nothing was too much trouble. Handmade pottery and jams are available for purchase as well. They were helpful in recommending restaurants for us and we took their advice for dinner at The Creggans Inn. We would have happily stayed more days if our holiday allowed and would highly recommend.

We attended a wedding at the nearby Creggan's Inn this weekend and stayed for two nights at Thistle House. We were really pleasantly surprised by the house - it is so pretty - the bedrooms were very nicely decorated and the lounge was beautiful. The views of the loch are amazing and the whole atmosphere is very relaxing. The owners were extremely welcoming and helpful, especially with our elderly relative - they were so kind and patient with him. Breakfast was excellent and all the little details - home made marmalade etc. really added to the visit. We would happily return.

Lovely little B&B on the shores of Loch Fyne. Sue and Avril run a beautiful house and their warmth envelopes the guests. The living room is beautiful with lovely warm colours and furniture. We visited in spring and there were a profusion of wild flowers all over the property. Their Loch view rooms are delightful . It had a tiny alcove with two chairs and a table with an enchanting view. The rooms are tastefully decorated with all amenities available. The bathroom has a lot of natural light, good toiletries and could do with a soap stand in the shower enclosure. They have a lovely selection of breakfast where Sue is helped by her sister in law in the kitchen. There is no restaurant options nearby so plan ahead for other meals.

This was our 3rd stay at Thistle Guest House & the standard of both accommodation & breakfast was as high as ever. We absolutely love staying there. Sue & Avril are excellent hosts, they go out of their way to make you welcome. This trip we stayed in the beautiful Stewart bedroom with view of garden at rear of house, we have also stayed in Campbell & Lamont previously. Each room is beautifully furnished & decorated. Guests also have use of the beautiful & relaxing downstairs lounge. Breakfast is excellently cooked with a wide range of choices offered.  The gardens at the guest house are gorgeous with great views across Loch Fyne to Inveraray & the castle there. All in all Thistle Guest House is perfection.  Thankyou Sue & Avril, we are looking forward to our next visit.

The most amazing break, Sue and Avril were the best hosts, they couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast choice was awesome and cooked to perfection, using all local ingredients which was a great treat. Location was perfect with the sea loch opposite the guest house. Lovely gardens where you can sit and take in the views of the mountains and the loch. The loch view bedroom was decorated in keeping with the location and the bed was the best nights sleep I have had in years. Absolutely spotless, clean and welcoming. Massive guest lounge with an open fire so guest can relax in the house. We could not recommend Thistle House enough, perfect lovely holiday. We will be heading back next year for sure.
