We stopped off here on the off chance of a drink and snack being after 2pm. Very cosy feel to this lovely pub. Landlady was very welcoming as were the customers at the bar. Kitchen was just closing but very happy to cook our snack. 8oz Steak medium rare sandwich and fries which was delicious. My better half had fully loaded fries and totally enjoyed. This lovely pub has a bar area and a restaurant area and outside garden. We need to go back as we wish to try there pies. So nice to chat to the owners a very welcoming local pub. Keep the good work up.

A lovely little pub nestled in the small village of Polbathic, East Cornwall. We stayed here for 1 night following a family funeral and we couldn't have picked a better place! We were met on arrival and showed to our room by our hosts who were just fantastic. The room was spotlessly clean and tidy with all the amenities you'd expect for an overnight stay. I particularly liked the fresh milk on request rather than the usual UHT pots which can taste rather plastic On returning from the funeral, there was a live band playing who were brilliant and certainly raised our mood The beds themselves were really comfortable although I found the pillows a little hard ( personal choice) whereas our friends found the perfect ( you can't win them all!!). Breakfast was lovely although, as there were 8 in our party, took quite a while to arrive, understandable considering they served all 8 of us together. A heartfelt goodbye by the hosts and we were on our way. Overall, this is a fantastic little place and we'd definitely stay here again albeit under different circumstances. Thank you to you all at the Halfway House for making our stay as comfortable as possible. It was really appreciated!

Apart from our slightly wayward route to Polbathic, we traveled across country when we should have taken the Torpoint Ferry, we eventually arrived at our destination. We had a warm welcome from the landlord and his staff and settled quickly into our room. The room was very large (room 3) and we had plenty of room for our dog and our bags. We were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food such that we are in the pub restaurant both nights. All in all, a most enjoyable stay even though parking was a problem on our first night due to the popularity of the bar. Our only criticism would be that the towels were a little threadbare. Nevertheless, a most enjoyable trip away

We discovered this pub/restaurant as we were driving back to the A38 from Mount Edgcumbe House on Sunday 6th August. We had been unfortunate in not being able to eat elsewhere due to the crowds attending the Classic Car Rally. What a treat we were in for. From the moment we arrived the staff were so welcoming and our waitress Lowenna was beyond incredible. We decided to sit in the beer garden high up behind the pub and Lowenna made the trip up to us about every 10 minutes to check on our needs. She was an absolute pleasure to have look after us as she was genuinely kind and caring and she made every single possible effort to ensure we were happy, comfortable and had everything we needed to eat, drink, visit the toilet and enjoy the location. The food was excellent. We chose a three course meal and were thrilled with the presentation and quality of everything we ate. It was delicious, hot, well prepared and had a wide variety of choice for two vegetarians. We were both surprised and impressed at the vegetarian and vegan choices on offer. Our chefs Chloe & Jago are to be commended as is the owner and the other wonderful server Niamh, who took payment at the end. The whole experience was 100% perfect and we would recommend this place to anyone. The pub itself is on several levels and whilst it appears small in some spaces, actually has a large capacity. When we left it was extremely busy in the bar, but don't let that put you off. The food, staff and the venue were all perfect and the toilet was spotless. Well done to the team working here. We had low expectations to start with but this was not one of those pubs lost in time, it is ahead of its game and greatly appreciated.

Bb stop. Functional. Clean, would have liked extra pillow, otherwise OK. All average, old pub so all that goes with age, adds character Reasonably priced, good spot for visiting all interests around

I’m not Cornish, but I live nearby. My son and I were driving back home after a hard days graft and needed somewhere quick and close to eat. The Halfway was the obvious decision. Friendly bar staff serving proper Cornish ales and the food is fantastic. I had homemade scotch eggs, salad and chips. It was amazing.. best chips ever! My son had the burger and chips and noted it was proper quality. Compliments to Chloe and Jago in the kitchen and Lloyd and Kate. 🙂👍
