This has been without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had with an allegedly 5 star hotel. How to begin? We booked the best suite - the Beaumier suite and have been subject to haphazard service and relentless noise pollution. 1. No warning was given that a festival was occurring during our stay and that there would be constant music pollution throughout our stay to the extent that, with all windows and doors closed we were unable to enjoy even a few minutes of peace in our room without the whole suite shaking from the music. When asked about this, the hotel management simply shrugged their shoulders and informed me that they did not know this would be happening and that they could not offer any alternative quieter rooms of the same category. It seemed unlikely and very irresponsible for the hotel not to be aware of what is going on around them that might affect their guests and offer warning to check that I was still happy to go ahead with the booking. Repeated negotiation with the manager led to agreement for one night discount on our stay which does not even slightly go towards 6 nights and days of our room at over £1k per night being essentially unusable. Even this concession came after many complaints and was given as if WE had been given some sort of favour! Moreover, when said festival was supposed to have been finished on our LAST evening horrendous thumping music unacceptably loud in our room and again had to ask reception to locate and sort. No sense of anticipation at all of customer needs. 2. Day 1 on arrival when it was -3 degrees two of the radiators in the bedrooms did not work properly and had to call maintenance. 3. The room safe was working only haphazardly and mentioned to reception several times and only after mentioning to manager after 2 days was there any move to remedy this. 4. Mentioned over 3-4 days no replenishment of shower caps and facial pads in rooms despite asking for this only to then have suddenly about 11 sets just left on the sitting room table as if to make a point. Just the daily replenishment in the allocated bathroom slots as would be usual in a hotel would do. 5. Every time the housekeeping service came something odd would happen to the blinds in the children’s bedroom - had to call maintenance to come repair. 6. Had to ask for fire to be made in our room several times and really only got this right the last two nights of our stay. 7. Asked for tea in room to be replaced with herbal tea and concierge at reception seemed confused, informed me he would check and never came back. Eventually had to ask manager on another day who then arranged for herbal tea. 8. After all of the stress above then asked to check out 1 hour later than the allotted time and told very rudely no by a very condescending receptionist and we must change in the spa/swimming pool after skiing on the last day as someone was booked into our room checking in early and it would take 3 hours to clean - check attached photos -

What a wonderful hotel! The location is incredible and very easily accessible. The room is lovely and we had a fantatsic view of the pistes. All the food we ate was wonderful. The breakfast had limited supply, but everything supplied was good quality and tatsy. Dinners were also great and there is enough variety. Supplements are required for some of the meals, but they're reasonable and significantly cheaper than if you were to buy the same meal on the slopes. All staff have been amazing, but especially the waiting staff. Thank you all for such a wonderful holiday.

We recent had the most amazing recently stay at The Firtzroy Hotel Val Thorens. I must say, it was an overall wonderful experience. Nestled at the top of the Les 3 Vallee ski area in France the hotel lives up to its name with a perfect blend of comfort, hospitality, and relaxation. We had a group of 10 people accommodated all of our needs! The hotel’s location is perfect if you was to just step out your door and ski it was just a short walk to local shops and great restaurants. The dinners just ok, but besides that a great experience. The bed was incredibly comfortable, adorned with plush pillows and quality linens. A large window provided ample natural light and balcony, stunning views of the ski sloops. The amenities were top-notch, including a flat-screen TV, a well-stocked minibar, and a coffee maker. Housekeeping was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that my room was always tidy and well-stocked. The staff warm and welcoming, they went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met. From the front desk to the restaurant, each team member displayed a genuine commitment to excellent service. The staff was outstanding the front desk was incredibly helpful, Leo helped us with whatever our needs were! The hotel boasts an impressive array of amenities, including a full-service spa, a well-equipped fitness center, and a serene indoor pool. I indulged in a relaxing massage at the spa, which was a highlight of my trip. The pool area was tranquil, allowing guests to swim or lounge. I would highly recommend The Fitzroy Hotel for anyone seeking a ski getaway or a family vacation. With its beautiful location, excellent service, and quality amenities! Alicia

good location, friendly staff on the desk and the Bar area unfortunately, we have money stolen from the room totalling €300 and also a top stolen. It was absolutely stolen by the maid and her male accomplice. I nearly caught them when revisiting the room and saw the mail meltdown near one of our bags while cleaning the room. Five star hotel you should be able to leave Close and small amounts of money without them getting stolen. Reported to the hotel but had no feedback. Mr M B It was also my 4 stay disappointing

Every year my sister and I book a week's skiing holiday at a 5 star hotel, and one of the things we look forward to is having varied and delicious 4 course evening meals included in half board. The food here was extremely disappointing. The menu is the same EVERY DAY except for the chef's special and the soup, and if you don't like the special (included in half board) then most of the other choices on the menu are charged extra! You even have to pay if you want cheese instead of dessert. I've NEVER experienced this in a "5 star" hotel before. Additionally, the choice at breakfast is extremely limited and stocked low. The boot room is poorly designed with not enough space to sit down without constantly having to move to let people pass. The exit from the boot room is via the outdoor terrace, where you have to manoeuvre past all the tables and chairs. Not ideal! Several times the cleaners came to clean the room just as we got back from skiing late in the afternoon, then would come back to do turndown when we were getting ready for dinner. This is a lovely hotel, but it's not 5 star. On a positive note, it's in an excellent location and we had a lovely, sunny balcony overlooking the piste. The staff are very warm and friendly and try hard to improve the experience - for example, when we complained about the food, the chef made us a special starter. The spa area is also very good with a small, warm pool with jets and a hot, spacious steam room. I recommend the hotel as a 4 star, not 5 star, but do not choose half board. There are plenty of places with good food nearby to have dinner instead.

Le Fitz Roy in Val Thorens is NOT a five-star hotel. (Koh-I-Nor is a proper 5* hotel. Pashmina is a proper 5* hotel.) The only positive experience we had with this hotel is its location. We had to endure a 5-nights stay. Their Beca restaurant? After dining there on our first night, I never returned. My husband tried breakfast on our first morning; we bought coffee elsewhere for the rest of our mornings. Their bar? On our first evening, we sat at the bar (not at a table) and it took an age to be served unsavoury cocktails without napkins or nuts (which were served to those sat at tables). At peak time, there appeared to be only 1 bartender, 2 servers (who were impossible to make eye contact with) and a floor manager. We never returned after that first night. Our €900/night ‘Privilege’ room was poorly laid out. There were no hooks to hang damp ski coats and ski pants outside of the closets. Dirty towels that we purposely left on the floor in a corner were not collected/changed; we had to literally place them in the bathtub for them to change the towels. (This is noted in unobtrusive small cursive writing on a card in the room.) The towels were scratchy. The bathroom amenities were not replenished. Our tray of used mugs, spoons, empty crisp bags, etc. wasn’t collected until we placed it on the hall floor outside our room. The halls and elevators were always dirty. The ski room? The worst laid out ski room we’ve experienced. With more than 70 lockers, there are 5 benches in the narrowest space where it’s impossible to change into your ski boots without at least a dozen individuals trying to pass through. If you are looking for a 5* star ski-in/ski-out hotel experience in Val Thorens. This isn’t it. I regret not booking Koh-I Nor.

Like many other reviews, I wouldn’t say this is a 5 star hotel. It is in a good location, looks good, has a nice pool and sauna etc and the ski shop on premises is good. I enjoyed our trip and I would be happy to return. But, there were just too many things that weren’t just quite perfect for what is not an insignificant cost to justify a 5 star rating Eg It took ages to get our food on the first night No ice available to have in my coke zero Our safe didn’t work, I reported it on day one and it never got fixed The service was a bit mixed, sometimes excellent sometimes a bit average And not connected to the rating, but our room (in the eves) was sooo dark it was difficult to see the beams that we kept hitting our head on I did enjoy it, and if it had marketed itself as a 4 star my expectations would not be so high. That said it is probably just thing about all hotels in ski resorts, they are all marketing themselves as one star more than they should be.
