Great hotel. Food brilliant. Staff a mix of nationalities and all very friendly and helpful. Hotel nicely decorated. Rooms a tad tight but many are in the alps. Beds comfortable. Good working shower that is a wet room with toilet opposite. Floor gets wet but you get a floor squeegee and we didn't find a problem. Didn't use spa facilities of hotel but others said it was ok and said Hôtel Koh-I Nor near by was a lovely spa hotel (35-50euros) a short walk above the hotel. Ski hire just 50 meters away down the road, along with various bars and shopping centre, which had a lovely crepes bar. Ski out..2 choices. Walk one minute down the road and join the piste that takes you on a green to all the major lifts or ski around the front side (though probably a bit daunting for some (the walk down the road is nothing really). To ski back grab the Pionniers or Plein Sud lift (Folie Douce at top of these) and ski down Plein Sud run (blue run, can be busy, get churned up, but it is wide until quiet road that leads to hotel). If blue run too much then magic carpet, at top go through first row of hotels and apparently these a lift and stairs that go up to hotel level, or easily catch the bus that drops you off outside hotel. Just keep left and look for KIN sign on side of hotel, keep left all the way. See youtube video, search Tango Val Thorens, ski in ski out. Dining and bar area is sometimes hard to hear each other, I think due to many hard sound reflective surfaces. Bar reasonably priced. Thoroughly recommend. Would definitely go back. As a group of 40 they couldn't seat us all in one setting unless we ate at 9pm.

Stayed here with a very large party of friends that board, ski & walk. Service from staff on average very good, once they sorted out serving times & allergy requirements at meal times. Cocktail list & price very good. Food very good, but sometimes portions could have been larger, especially after a long day of sking. But always delicious. Lighting could have been brighter in the rooms & especially on the staircase going downstairs to the rooms on -1 level. This was quite dangerous ! Slight drain smell on & off all week in the downstairs corridor x in room 006. But didn’t complain because I think it was probably an ongoing issue as mentioned in another review. Boot room was a bit small when the hotel is busy, but I kept my boots in the heated bathroom & put them on in my room. So not a problem for me. Restaurant should have been closer to the kitchen ( so switch lounge x restaurant around) so staff didn’t have to navigate the busy bar & they need a stronger extraction fan around the pizza oven, because the smell of burnt pizza x cheese often sent me to bed early when sitting in the lounge area ! Was quite unpleasant . Over all would stay here again!

Hotel Tango is in a fantastic position, very close to the centre of town, ski lifts, and amenities. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the hotel has a super cosy ambiance. The staff are very professional and friendly. We really enjoyed the set menu during the evenings and the breakfast buffet included everything you could wish for to start your day

Good Points 1) staff are excellent 2) food is excellent 3) clean rooms 4) close to slopes Bad points 1) boot room is tiny and people just take any boots regardless if they’re theirs or not, this happened to us so we ended up taking our boots to our room each night after they’d been returned. 2) open to non residents, and because the food is so good the bar and restaurant is always packed. So if you want to have a conversation you can’t as it’s so loud and it’s difficult to find somewhere to sit 3) evening meal set menu, whilst the food is fantastic the portion sizes are tiny. I’ve been skiing all day, I want more than one chicken leg, mouthful of spinach and spoonful of mash. Also, the basket of bread, you constantly have to ask for it to be refilled as they give you 1 tiny piece of baguette each. 4) rooms on the basement floor are like walking into the dungeon, past all the maids quarters and laundry room and the corridor stinks 5) the ski in ski out isn’t great for beginners, it’s really steep and narrow Would I stay here again? No, too busy and noisy for my liking.

A fantastic all-round experience. Good location, decent rooms, great views, high enough up the town to avoid the noiser late-night revellers, a very reasonably priced restaurant and bar, and always a nice atmosphere. There's a good-sized heated boot room and space to get kit on and off. Technically, it's ski-in, ski-out. There is access to the central ski area via a short walk around 50m up the road, but the ski-in route back is a blue run that can get icy, so it is not accessible for novices, etc. There is, however, a bus that runs every 20 minutes just 2-3 minutes walk from the top of the Castor/Pollux magic carpet if you want an easy way back up to the hotel. Apart from when housekeeping forgot little things a couple of days, I.e. to empty the bin and top up the toilet rolls - very minor oversights - the service has been great from everyone: really friendly, prompt, and courteous. Plenty of choice (hot and continental) at breakfast, and the half-board evening menus have been mostly excellent, with good alternatives to the main set menu. You have to go with the set menu on your first night, but you can then select from options each day thereafter. Aside from one veal dish that wasn't quite as good, the food quality has been superb with great flavours and good portion sizes. So, it might only be a 3-star hotel, but it's definitely a 5-star rating and we will definitely come again.

We spent New Year week at Hotel Tango in Val Thorens, and it was, quite simply, superb. The rooms were spotless, cosy yet modern. There are lots of comments in reviews about the wet room bathroom, did it get wet when you had a shower - yes, is it a perfect design - no, did it impact our holiday negativity- not at all! The food was particular highlight – consistently delicious and varied, with clear attention to quality and presentation. Mealtimes felt like a treat, and the dining atmosphere was both lively and relaxed. The staff were outstanding, friendly, and always ready to help. My only comment here is when it was full in the restaurant the staff felt rushed and that impacted service, although this was rare, but something to consider. A particular mention must go to the manager, who truly stood out. Her leadership was evident in the hotel’s operation – calm, hands-on, very present and fully committed to ensuring guests had the best possible experience. We loved it so much that we didn’t hesitate to book again for next Christmas – we can’t wait for next winter already! If we were to offer one small suggestion for improvement, it would be to expand the alcohol-free options at the bar, such as non-alcoholic spirits or something like Seedlip. Whilst the bar had a great atmosphere, as non-drinkers we did venture out a few evenings to enjoy these options elsewhere in Val Thorens. Including them would only enhance an already stellar experience (and boost profits!). Thank you to the whole team at Hotel Tango for making our New Year so memorable – we’re already looking forward to next year!

I stumbled upon this hotel when I arrived in Val Thornes. I was on a ski holiday for a few weeks, bouncing around with no set plans- so I didn't book anything ahead of time. I saw the hotel, popped into the reception and to my luck was able to book a room for 3 nights - it would have been 4 if they weren't closing for the season! The bed was the most comfortable in my entire trip. It was hard to get moving in the morning, but the skiing was calling! The hotel was in the perfect location, easy to ski in and out of. The staff was so nice (thanks Elodie!) and helpful with everything- from offering restaurant suggestions, holding my luggage, etc. Always with a smile on their face. The drinks and food were delicious and the views of the mountain were breathtaking. Thanks for an amazing stay!!!

Great hotel, excellent food and good position for in and out skiing. Not too expensive but offers all the advantages of the more expensive options. The only problem is we tried to go back later in the season and it was booked solid, so get in there early and book.
